The Church of the Risen Lord was designed to have an exterior shape similar to a
parabola.
The overall architecture of the Church provides a light, airy feeling due to the
louvres; the large window panels also provides a natural lighting to scatter around
the Church.
The Church has a basilica design and features a concrete shell roof, this time curved
like a piece of folded paper.
It is the first structure in the country to sport column-free structural concept. The design
used pre-cast and pre-stressed beams like a tree rooted on the ground. The exterior of the
building was designed to withstand the salty environment that surrounds the building. It
was clad with travertine marble slabs embedded in the frame of the building.

The construction of the church employed the round, concrete-
heavy design. The tent-like church’s butterfly shaped floor plan
emanates from this cruciform. A symbolic feature is the giant
customized circular chandelier suspended over the cross and the
altar which is reminiscent of a saintly halo.
The design of the unique cross shape, seen in the church’s peak, is
symbolic of the manner the martyr died crucified on an X-shaped
cross, formally called a saltire
The pyramid structure was made by national artist Architect Leandro Locsin
and was dubbed as a “Magnum Opus”, a Latin word which means “Great
