CLAUDIA: Hi jose, we are here talking about some things with janira
JIANIRA: Hi jose, we are good here.
JOSE: Have you seen the news this week?
JIANIRA: Not at all I have been more concentrated studying that I could not watch
television I couldn't watch the news these days either. Because what happened on the
news jose?
JOSE: No nothing, I was amazed because a report came out showing how the pandemic
has affected many celebrities such as musician actors, artists, they have not been able
to have the success they hoped for. And I have a question in mind, for you, which would
be one of the Peruvians who have been very successful in recent years?
CLAUDIA: We just did an exhibition on a similar topic, on people who made or
contributed in some way to the country.
JANIRA: yes, we talk about Vania Macías Málaga.
JOSE: Could you tell me more about her, please?
JANIRA: Of course, she was born in Lima in 1979. She is a dancer, choreographer of
ballet and contemporary dance. She is independent and likes to make people grow.
JOSE: Interesting, could you tell me more about her life?
JANIRA: She started very young and started dancing ballet at the Lucy Telge school in
1987, she became an ambassador for the Peru Brand, Member of the Advisory Council
of the Ministry of Culture, Member of the Board of Directors of Peru 2021 and Member
of the National Council of Education this year.
JOSE: And what are her successes or how was she recognized?
CLAUDIA: She has helped many young people learn to follow their dreams and earn a
living from them. She has obtained the SYNACYT Award for Social Innovation, the
Indecopi 2012 institutional award and the Esteban Campodónico award for her service
to society. She has founded a D1 social project. "This project began with the ambition
to train leaders among young people from marginalized sectors of Peru."
JOSE: It’s very interesting, I also have in mind a person who has been successful in
recent years.
CLAUDIA: Tell us, jose, who are you thinking?
JOSE: I'm thinking of chef Gaston Acurio
JANIRA: yes, jose you are very right but we want to hear more from him.
CLAUDIA: Could you tell us more about it?
JOSE: Of course, Gaston Acurio was born on October 30, 1967 in Lima, Peru, the son
of former senator and former conservative minister Gastón Acurio Velarde and Jesusa
Jaramillo Rázuri. In 1987, he moved to Spain to start his law studies at the Complutense
University of Madrid at the wish of his family. He joined one of the most important law
firms in the city for an internship.
JANIRA: And what were the most important achievements of him?
JOSE: After finishing his studies and doing internships for some time in European
restaurants, they settled in Peru and on July 14, in 1994 opened his first restaurant,
Astrid & Gaston. In 2005, he launched La Mar in Peru, his first cebichería, which was
very well received. In 2013, the English publication Restaurant Magazine launched the
Latin American 50 Best Restaurants list and Astrid & Gaston was the Best Restaurant
