TIME AND AUDIENCE ANALYSIS AND JUSTIFICATION

Between 12 mid-day and 1pm


Here there are serious programs since majority of the people here are waiting for the 1pm news, we have
our station ID Kenya Polytechnic commercial, weather updates, corruption PSA an animal documentary
and a KCB commercial.
Between 1pm and 2pm
Our programs in between this period are the lunch time news a multimedia university commercial, a
health feature story a repetition of wanafunzi classics a promo of a movie that will be aired later in the
day, a Tumaini supermarket promo and a kiwi commercial. Our main target audience is the general public
who are usually busy during the night but have time for serious matters
Between 2pm and 5pm
Our programs are sports highlights, a corruption feature story, Chekwa a comedy show youths and
fashion program, techno mobile commercial, Barclays bank commercial, a list of the top Kenyan music of
the week blue band commercial and a cartoon program. This period has programs that entertains the
youth and kids who have just arrived home from school and need something to entertain them
Between 5pm and 7pm
Our programs between this period is a Coca-Cola game competition, a Toyota and betin commercial.
Football highlights a reggae show, nivea promo and a cancer awareness PSA. Here programs are short
since a lot of people are not usually attentive on what is being aired. Majority of the people are coming
from work or preparing for supper.
Between 7pm and 9pm
In this section our programs start with the 7pm news a total and Macmillan commercial follows, a local
drama plot10 an anti-terrorism documentary, a voter registration PSA, a soap opera named simply maria,
a safaricom and Coca-Cola promo and a cancer awareness PSA. Our target audience are the general
public. Here we have programs that fit every member of the family. Serious commercials are made for
example a Coca-Cola and a safaricom commercial. Children can watch the local drama just as their
parents. Serious PSA’s like that of voter registration cancer awareness and an anti-terrorism documentary
are also aired at this time.
Between 9pm and 12 midnight
Our programs are the 9pm prime news a KCB commercial, a safaricom and tuskys commercial, sports
news a soap opera an action movie and the CNN midnight news. Here our target audience are people who
are not asleep yet programs are so long here and commercials tend to become more little because the
number of people who are watching TV at that time has lowered.
