Data Gathering Procedures


This is a part of research methodology where the procedures that will be done
by the researchers to gather data are stated such as asking for a permit to conduct
the study, formulation of questionnaire, distribution of questionnaires to the
respondents, tallying and computing the results and analyzing of the data collected.
Statistical Treatment of Data

This part of the research methodology tells the readers how the research
problems stated in chapter 1 be answered through the use of different statistical
tools.

Directions: Read the paragraphs below and answer the following activities. Write the
answer in your notebook.

A. Data Gathering Procedure


The researcher will ask permission from the Tandag City LGU and the
Barangay Captain of Barangay Dagocdoc before the administration of the
instrument to the respondents. Once granted, the researcher will personally
administer the questionnaires and retrieve the questionnaires on the same
day they were administered to ensure 100% retrieval. After this, the gathered
data will be tabulated, interpreted and analyzed.

B. Statistical Treatment of Data

Statement of the Problem

1. What is the socio-demographic profile of the respondents in terms of:


1.1 Age;
1.2 Sex;
1.3 Civil Status;
1.4 Educational Attainment;
1.5 Occupation; and
1.6 Motorcycle accident history?
2. What is the perception of motorcycle riders in the implementation of
No Helmet, No Driving policy as to:
2.1 Helmet Use Practice;
2.2 Effectiveness of Law Enforcement Officers; and
2.3 Effect of the policy implementation?
3. Is there a significant difference between the profile of the respondents
and their perception on policy implementation?

The data gathered will be analyzed and interpreted using the following
statistical treatments:
Frequency counts, and percentage. These will be used to present the
profile of the respondents.
Average weighted mean. This will be used to describe the perception of
motorcycle riders in the implementation of No Helmet, No Driving Policy and
the problems encountered in the implementation of the policy.
Analysis of variance (ANOVA) One Way. This treatment will be used for
identifying the significant difference between the profile of the respondents
and their perception on the No Helmet, No Driving Policy
Answer the following questions:
1. What statistical tool will be used in identifying the problems encountered
in the implementation of No Helmet, No Driving Policy?
2. Why is there a need of parallelism between the statement of the problem
and statistical treatment of data?
