Soil Investigation

General

After commencement of site clearing, the next stage of work at each location is
soil investigation. To ascertain the type of foundation to be installed at each
location, the following soil investigations test shall be carried out depending on
requirement by the Customer.

Specialist to do Probe Test

Generally, for soil investigation project, the probe test is send to specialist and
probe test is required for propose selected locations. This test shall be taken to a
resistance of 50 blows per 30cm penetration or to a depth of 10 meters
whichever is reach earlier.

Hand Auger Boring

Hand auger boring test to be made at each location at one of the worst of the
four legs as determined by the JKR probe test. The Customer , however, reserves
the right to waive the test where necessary.

Mechanised Boring To Set Depth (SPT)

Mechanised boring to set depth is also known as standard penetration test

(SPT). Generally, for Sub-Station projects, SPT is usually conducted at strategic
locations.

Mechanised Deep Boring

Mechanised deep boring shall be carried out at the locations where results from
JKR probe test indicate that piles are to be installed at the particulars locations.
