Little woman

Jung seo kyoung

1.How is the main character affected by his place or class

in society?

When Oh In Ju was still young, she had neglectful parents. Since

She has 2 sisters and she is the oldest, she and the 2nd born child
always provide for their family because their youngest sister is still
going to school. Oh In Ju started thinking about money when her
youngest sister had a rich friend. The family of this “Friend” is a
politician and the villain. She gets involved in a case that could
change her life as a poor person. So basically, this “friend” of her

sister is providing for her sister while she cannot provide for her.

2. How does this help or impair him/her?

She learned how to be independent for her sisters. It helps her

stand on her own and be strong to fight for their rights. Although
she did a bad thing for money, she still did her best to provide for
her 2 sisters.

3. What could the main character, represent in the story

and in real life?

She represents the poor people who will do anything for their
families. Even if it is to risk her own life. Many Filipino people are just
like her, especially Mothers. She respects people who only deserve
to be respected and she is also smart who can deceive bad people
especially bad politicians.

4. How is the class difference between the protagonist and

the other characters made obvious?

The protagonist is in the proletariat class. She grew up in a terribly

poor environment and is still poor. Ever since she was a young
child, In-ju realized that money was the most important thing to
protect herself and her family. Her dream is to live an ordinary life
like other people. The Villain on the other hand, is in the
Bourgeoisie class who is running for the position of president in
Korea. He is living a rich life, deceiving people to vote for him and is
a really bad person who wants to kill the protagonist.

5. Research briefly about the Author’s life. How might the social and economic environment he
experienced or grew up in have influenced his writing?

The author of this drama is jeong seo-kyoung. Her birth year is 1975 and was born in South korea. Writer Jung
excels not only in crafting film plots that distort tropes and upend expectations, but also excels in creating
memorable female characters who inhabit their lives so thoroughly that they become unapologetic, unremorseful,
and even uninterested in men. I think she grew up as an independent woman who can stand on her own without
the help of others because of her stories.
