for the next training, we’ll be using this very cool software called Pro Tools First, which is an industry
level audio mixing tool that requires an account.

to avoid wasting time during the actual workshop, please follow the following steps to set up your
Avid and iLok account before 20th March.

Step 1:

First, please go to this link: https://my.avid.com/get/pro-tools-first. That will bring you to this sign up
page, depicted below.

Obviously, as you do not have an account yet, you would want to pick the “Create an account”
option. In case of potential illiteracy, the button is illustrated below.

Upon clicking, this dropdown list should appear:

Fill it in (change your country to Singapore), and make sure your password and email address are
correct. I recommend writing it down somewhere so you don’t forget. The email address is
important as that is where they will send the download link to the software; hold on to the link as
you would probably need it in the future.

Step 2:

After submitting, this should be your next page:

The easy option here is to create a new iLok account using your existing email and password
associated with your Avid Master Account (the one you just made). However, if you already have an
iLok account for whatever reason, feel free to use that. After ticking the checkbox and entering your
password, submit to move on to the next page.

Step 3:

This is your next page:

Upon clicking the dropdown lists, this is what you should see:

For the first drop down list, just answer in accordance with whatever you have used. If you have not
used any of these tools before, just check None. For the second drop down tool, select Live Sound,
Mixing, and Record Live Instruments. Tick the student box and press the big blue button to get your
download links.

This should be your confirmation page:

Step 4:

Head on over to your email to ensure that you received the email. You should have three; one
confirming your iLok account, one with your email opt in and one with your download link. The only
important one is the download link.

^^ This is the important one. If you don’t have this email, click the resend email button in your web
browser to resend the email.

That’s it!

Things to note for the training itself:

1) Come on time. If you’re going to be late, please inform me (cool training guy 96502649) or
jia qing (lame admin guy 88121245) at least a day in advance.
2) For this workshop, please remember your laptop number and groupings as they will be the
same for future workshops. The Pro Tools First software is only limited to three devices, so
PLEASE DO NOT FORGET YOUR LAPTOP NUMBER AND GROUPINGS.
3) When you save your project, save it in this format: 45s_[theme]_[name]_mix[edit number]
4) As we will be using Macbooks (the really cool ones :O), please bring a USB TYPE C thumb
drive; otherwise, you’ll be unable to save your projects on the thumb drive.
5) When logging in to your Macbook, a screen prompting you to create some account may
show up. Just accept.
6) After the workshop, sign out of the Pro Tools First app and the Macbook so other people
don’t inadvertently steal your identity (although I can’t imagine who would want to be you)
7) Stay hydrated
