THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

INTRODUCTION

Impact of technology on students Technological advancements have had a significant impact on

students' daily lives in numerous ways. Here are some general ideas:
Access to Information: Students now have access to a vast amount of information through the
internet, which has made it easier for them to conduct research and learn about various topics.
This access to information has revolutionized the way students learn and has made learning more
efficient and effective.
Enhanced Communication: Technological advancements have also made communication easier
and more accessible. Students can communicate with their teachers, classmates, and other
students from around the world through video conferencing, social media, and other
communication platforms. This has improved collaboration and has made it easier for students to
work on group projects.
Personalized Learning: Technology has made it possible for students to learn at their own pace
and in their own way. With the use of online learning platforms and adaptive learning software,
students can tailor their learning experience to their individual needs and preferences.
Increased Productivity: Technology has also improved students' productivity by providing tools
such as online calendars, to-do lists, and other productivity software. These tools have helped
students better manage their time and stay organized, which has improved their overall academic
performance.
Health Concerns: However, technological advancements have also brought some health concerns
such as increased screen time, sedentary lifestyle and other issues which can impact the student's
overall health and well-being.
Overall, technological advancements have had a profound impact on students' daily lives, from
the way they learn to the way they communicate and work. While these advancements have
brought many benefits, there are also some concerns that need to be addressed to ensure that
students can harness the power of technology without compromising their health and well-being.
In line with the mandate of the Department of Education (DepEd) to provide quality education
for all, it is important to recognize the impact of technological advancement on students' daily
life. This memorandum aims to remind all DepEd officials and personnel of the legal basis and
existing mandates, laws, R.A., DepEd Order, and memoranda related to this matter.

Legal Basis: The Philippine Constitution of 1987, Article XIV, Section 1, which states that "the
State shall protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels, and shall
take appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all. "Republic Act 10627, or the
Anti-Bullying Act of 2013, which aims to promote a safe and conducive learning environment
for all students, including the prevention and addressing of bullying or cyberbullying that may
arise from the use of technology. DepEd Order No. 73, s. 2012 or the "Guidelines on the Safe
Use of the Internet in Schools," which provides guidelines for the safe and responsible use of the
internet and other related technologies in schools. DepEd Order No. 66, s. 2017 or the "Policy
Guidelines on the Protection of Children in School from Abuse, Violence, Exploitation,
Discrimination, Bullying, and Other Forms of Abuse," which aims to protect children from all
forms of abuse, including those that may arise from the use of technology... One problematic
situation that could occur in researching the impact of technological advancement on students'
daily life is obtaining accurate and reliable data. This is because technology is constantly
evolving, and its impact on students' daily lives can be difficult to measure. Some potential
issues that could arise include: Difficulty in defining "technological advancement": With so
many different technologies available, it may be challenging to determine which ones to include
in the study. Additionally, the definition of "advancement" may differ from person to person,
making it difficult to establish a consistent criterion for inclusion.
Measuring impact: Measuring the impact of technology on students' daily lives may be
subjective and difficult to quantify. For example, it may be challenging to determine whether
increased screen time has a positive or negative effect on academic performance.Data collection:
Collecting data on students' technology use may be challenging, particularly if the research is
conducted in a school setting. Students may not be forthcoming about their

This study is about that learners construct their own understanding of the world, and technology can
provide various tools to aid in the construction process. With the use of technology, learners can access
a diverse range of resources, interact with others, and create and share their own knowledge.
Technology can present complex information in an easily digestible format and help learners to better
understand and retain the information and technology is the best ways of studying because technology
has the ability to enhance learning outcomes by providing learners with opportunities to create,
collaborate, and interact with others, while also reducing cognitive load and presenting information in
an accessible format.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION

This research focuses on finding out the effects and improvement in the life of the students using
technology. The data collection will be conducted to the Students of St. Vincent College of
Cabuyao, academic year 2022-2023. The research will not include students from any other
schools and universities.This study would be done through questionnares, surveys and other
forms of data collection.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
Technology has significantly influenced various aspects of our lives, including the way we learn
and communicate. The emergence of modern technologies has brought about an array of
opportunities and challenges for students, which can impact their daily lives. This study aims to
examine the significance of technological advancements on the daily life of students.
Methods: This study will use a mixed-method approach to collect and analyze data. A survey
will be conducted among students to gather their opinions and experiences regarding the use of
technology in their daily lives. Additionally, a focus group discussion will be held to gain a
deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities presented by technology.
Data Analysis: The data collected from the survey and focus group discussion will be analyzed
using both qualitative and quantitative methods. The qualitative data will be analyzed through
thematic analysis, and the quantitative data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics.
Expected Results: The study aims to identify the impact of technological advancements on the
daily life of students. It is expected that the study will reveal that technology has both positive
and negative impacts on students' daily routines. Positive impacts may include increased
efficiency and convenience, while negative impacts may include addiction, social isolation, and
distraction from academic activities. Additionally, the study will explore how technology affects
student academic performance and identify the challenges and opportunities presented by
technology in the daily lives of students.

DEFINITION OF TERMS
Improvement: This refers to the process of making something better or more effective,
particularly in terms of its quality, efficiency, or usability.
Life: This refers to the general condition or quality of an individual's existence, including their
physical, mental, and emotional well-being, as well as their social and economic circumstances.
Rapid Advancement of Technology: This refers to the quick pace of development and
improvement in technology that has taken place over recent years, particularly in areas such as
computing, telecommunications, and automation.
Student: This refers to an individual who is enrolled in an educational institution, such as a
school, college, or university, and is actively pursuing a course of study.
Study: This refers to a systematic investigation or analysis of a particular subject or topic,
typically involving the collection and analysis of data, in order to gain new insights or
knowledge. In this case, the study is focused on how technology has improved the lives of
students.
Technology: This refers to the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes,
particularly in the design, development, and use of electronic devices, software, and systems.
Technology -the term technology is used by some to describe the entire R&D process but the
most apt definition of this work is given in Webster's dictionary: "...the totality of the means
employed to provide objects necessary for human sustenance and comfort." A company,
therefore, which has a massive R&D effort but operates antiquated and inefficient plants cannot
claim to "high-technology"; conversely, a high-technology company may spend little on in-house
R&D but have a policy of rapidly adopting in its operation the technical innovations of others.
