A. Background of the study

Technology is everywhere in education. As innovation has established its

way into our everyday presence, instructions has been changed. With data at the
tips of our fingers, learning is presently limitless. Education doesn’t stop toward
the finish of the school day. Students can access teachers, resources, and
assignments via the web whenever and wherever they have an internet
connection especially in this times of pandemic.

Today, more than ever before, technology plays an important role in

society. It is changing and will continue to change every aspect of how we live. It
is changing the way we communicate, the way we do business, how we learn
and teach, and even it’s changing the way our brains work.

Because the arrival of technology, the learning environment is changing.

Students have more options than they ever would have imagined. In older days,
people used to only learn at a classroom. But today, people just need a computer
and WIFI. They learn when it is convenient for them, at home or a coffee shop.
As the skills, knowledge, and needs of the student change, so does the role of
the teachers.

B. Statement of the Problem

This study aims to determine the importance of technological advancements, as

well as its impact to the health and studies of the students. This research could also
serve as an information about how technology give the students convenience in online
learning especially during this times of pandemic.

Specifically, it aims to answer the following questions:

1. How do the students use technology as a means of learning in this

pandemic?

2. Is technology an effective use in distance learning during this pandemic?

3. What are the positive and negative effects of technological advancements

for students in distance learning?

4. How does technology affect the health of the students during this
pandemic?

5. How many hours does the students use gadgets each day for their online
studies?

C. Objectives of the study

In this research, the Junior high school students will be aware of the roles
of technology during this times of COVID-19 pandemic. They will also be
informed of the importance of technology in distance learning.

The following are the objectives of the study:

 Identify and analyze the negative and positive effects of technology for
students in distance learning.
 Explain the use of technological advancements in distance learning.
 Prove that technology has a big help for students during this pandemic.
 Inform the students about the correct usage of technology for distance
learning.
 State the impacts of technology in terms of the health of the students and
in their studies.

D. Significance of the study

The primary purpose of this research is to have a definite understanding

on how technological advancements help the students in distance learning during
this times of pandemic. Since it’s not allowed to have face to face classes yet,
these technologies and gadgets are useful for educational purposes.

Real-time data, innovations like artificial intelligence (AI), and a range of

new devices and tools, will help transform the roles and relationships of students,
teachers, and parents.

Students will be empowered to learn for themselves in flexible, often

collaborative ways, both inside and outside classrooms at their own pace. They
will be able to follow their own interests and be challenged where appropriate.

Teachers will have access to individualized real-time data on how well

each of their students is progressing – scholastically and emotionally – so they
can devise new challenges and offer appropriate support for each child to move
ahead.

Parents will be better connected to, and involved with, their child’s

education with certainty, detail, and confidence.

E. Scope and Delimitations

This study will only limit its coverage on the JHS students of ADSAC. The
study will not be conducted on any other schools. Its main purpose is to identify
how technological advancements help the students in distance learning. This
study considers every aspect of students’ use of gadgets and technology for
online learning.

This study started in October 8, 2020 to determine the effects of

technological advancements in distance learning. The main focus of this study is
to serve as an information to the students of the importance of technology for
online learning during this times of COVID-19 pandemic.

F. Definition of terms

Technology is the application of specific knowledge for practical purposes,

specifically in industry.

Advancements are the process of promoting a cause or plan.

Aspects means a particular part or feature of something.

Progress is the advance or development toward a better, more complete, or

more modern condition.

Artificial Intelligence refers to the stimulation of human intelligence in machines

that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions.

Collaborative means that something is produced or conducted by two or more

parties working together.

Effects means a change which is a result of an action or other cause.

Pandemic means a prevalent over a whole country or the world.

Limitless means without end, limit, or boundary.

Internet is a global computer network providing a variety of information and

communication facilities, consisting of interconnected networks using
standardized communication protocols.

Connection a relationship in which a person, thing, or idea is linked or

associated with something else.
