WELCOME TO ALUMNI UNITE 2023

Are you ready for the retreat? We really can’t wait to meet all of you and to get to know you in person.
As you will see in the directory section, you are all very diverse and from very different walks of life! The
four days we will spend together will be a journey that explores the use of different activities to help you
network and connect more easily. Our activities focus on the mind, body and soul through sharing
experiences, organized networking, business workshops, fitness & fun, relaxation or artistic expression.
We ask you to be open and flexible to try all experiences and to fully immerse yourself across all parts of
the agenda.

OUR RETREAT CULTURE

In order to have a great camp experience together this is a list of group guidelines that we ask from campers at each camp:

1. No mobiles or technology during the sessions. Leave your
phones in your rooms We encourage you to explore a full
four-day digital detox to help reduce anxiety, stress and
information overload.
2. Always be on time as scheduled in the agenda.
3. All of us are coming from very different backgrounds and
governorates. Please be welcoming and accepting to new
practices and opinions different to yours. Trust the
process of the camp!
4. One our way to the venue, for some people it is hard to
get sleep on the bus, so we ask that by midnight stop any
conversations.
5. In discussions, we ask that you speak in Arabic and avoid
topics regarding politics or religion. Also please take care
not to monopolize the conversation.
6. Come with a spirit to help each other and have humility
to ask each other for help.
7. Protect the environment around you by not taking
anything and not leaving plastics bags, cans, etc
8. There is no smoking during sessions. alcohol and drugs
allowed are not allowed at all during the camp.
9. Bring your generosity and explore a gifting culture
across the four days. Give expecting an exchange of
something of equal value in return.
10. Be more courageous and put yourself out there.
What do you have to lose?
11. Last but not least, we ask that we all leave our egos at the
door as soon as we get on the bus. We would like you to
talk about your questions, struggles, failed experiments,
and dreams as much as your insights and achievements.
No small talk.
12. Have a great experience and drink lots of WATER!
US EMBASSY RULES
• You will share a room with one (1) other alumnus and that exceptions will not be permitted under any circumstances.
• You will take the transportation provided to and from the camp and exceptions will not be permitted.
• You will be available for the full duration of the camp.
• You promise to actively participate in ALL of the sessions as a contributor and will be on time.
• You agree to start every day at 7 am sharp.
• You will pay late fees if you are late. 5 LE if you are late for the first 5 minutes. 50 LE if I you are late for 15 minutes.
200 LE if you are late for more than 15 minutes.
• Failing to comply with any of the above-mentioned points will result in leaving the camp and bearing all the costs
including the hotel and transportation.
• You agree to complete 2 short surveys after the retreat. Failing to do so will affect my future participation in alumni
activities.

There will be 2 people per room.

RESTAURANT SERVICE
The accommodation is all-inclusive plan, it includes breakfast,
lunch, and dinner.
There will be water dispensers available.

TRANSPORTATION DETAILS
We will leave Tuesday February 21. The exact meeting points for Cairo, Luxor and Alexandria is announced in the
email. Please make sure to leave work early that day and take into account traffic. We will be leaving Soma Bay on
Saturday February 25 around 2:00 pm heading back.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
A few important points that we need to communicate in advance:

▪ If you have a cough you will not be allowed to go on the bus – please take the responsible decision to
inform us of this in advance before arriving to the meeting point
▪ There will be sanitization stations across the main area in the camp- Please bring your mask and your
personal sanitization gel if that makes you comfortable to be wearing them

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a draft agenda, final agenda with slight changes to be given on-site at the opening
of the camp. Alumni will be sent a separate agenda with the timeslots where there is a merge with the main
track.

Using a specific reflective methodology, you will reflect on your
own journey with some given words and share parts of it in
smaller groups.
INDUSTRY INTRODUCTIONS
A speed networking segment where you will get exposed to
who is doing what, how they are doing it, share successful
models, and start initial conversations.
FITNESS
We will be having two morning light workouts and games at 7
am! Come prepared knowing that we knock on all doors to make
sure you are already awake. Also, pack fitness friendly clothes.
FOCUS GROUPS
Pinpoint what challenges or new ideas you want to host a focus
group around - it can be feedback in general about how to
improve your services, or any other challenges that this group
of diverse minds can come together and share with you ideas
on how you can improve. Come prepared with a set of key
questions, or a clearly defined challenge or new idea you would
like inputs on
GALLERY BASED OPEN SPACE
You discuss whatever hot topics you have on your mind
based on universal themes that delegates face. These topics
can be personal or related to the theme of this retreat.
Come prepared with ideas.
Coming prepared is key to gaining the most from your experience and contributing to the
experience of your peers!
THE MASKS WE WEAR
We’ll let you know what happens here during the retreat.
TOOL FAIR
This is a space to share key tools, knowledge, and/or theories
that have significantly impacted your work. Each participant will
propose a teachable skill, topic, or research that you will then
conduct a 20-minute presentation to share with others. Your
topic can be a best-case practice that others can adopt; a deep
dive into a great research topic; or something teachable that
would benefit the broader group. These workshops will happen
in parallel and the audience will be divided between these
groups. Come prepared with a tool or research you can teach
to others.
COLLABRATIONS & SYNERGIES
One-to-one meetings space is left in the end to discuss what
actions you want to move with further.
NIGHT ACTIVITIES (GAMES AND MUSIC)
Here we will have two themes across both nights - one for the
soul and one for the child within - More details later.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE CAMP
After the camp we share access to a Facebook group a Linkedin
group and a contact list. That means you don’t need to worry
about bringing and exchanging business cards at the camp.
There will also be several events across the year for the
community so don’t expect this to be a one time interaction.
