What is a noun?

A noun is a word that names a person,


a place, an animal, or a thing.

If you notice, all the nouns are singular
in number. A singular noun means only one. A
plural noun means two or more.
 Most singular nouns are made plural
by simply adding an -s or -es at the end.
 Nouns that form their plural by
simply adding -s or -es are called
regular nouns.
There are rules to follow regarding
the pluralization of regular nouns.
1. Most nouns form their plural by
adding s or es.
Ex. bell – bells poem – poems
banana- bananas girl – girls
2. Nouns ending with the sounds /ch/,
/s/, /sh/, /z/ and /ks/, add –es.
Ex. watch – watches bush – bushes
glass – glasses tax – taxes
In some cases, singular nouns ending in -
s or -z, require that you double the -s
or -z before adding the -es for
pluralization.
Ex. quiz – quizzes gas –gasses
3. Nouns ending in f or fe, change f or
fe to v and add –es.
Ex. half – halves
bookshelf -bookshelves
knife – knives wife – wives
Exceptions:
roof – roofs belief – beliefs
chef – chefs chief – chiefs
4. Nouns ending in y preceded by a
consonant, change y to i and add –es.
Ex. melody – melodies lady - ladies
baby – babies city - cities
For nouns ending in y preceded by a
vowel, just add –s.
Ex. key – keys holiday – holidays
toy - toys highway – highways
5. Add –es to some nouns ending in o, to
others, add an –s only.
Ex. hero – heroes tomato – tomatoes
radio – radios barrio - barrios
photo – photos piano – pianos
halo – halos

Market demand describes the demand
for a given product and who wants to
purchase it. This is determined by how
willing consumers are to spend a certain
price on a particular good or service.

Harvesting is picking fruits in their
season when they are ready to be sold
or eaten. Harvesting is done at
different seasons depending on the
characteristics of each product.
Generally, fruits are picked when they
are mature enough. Fruits should reach
the market in good condition.
1.Mangoes, bananas, and papayas are
harvested before they ripen.
They should be green and matured.
2. Pomelos and chicos should be
picked at the right size and maturity.
3. Native oranges or dalandans are
picked while green. They eventually
ripen.
The right time to harvest depends on
the following factors:
1. The price of fruits on the market
2. The distance of the farm to the
market
3. The period of storage of harvested
fruits before bringing them to the
market
