COLOURED SULPHATE / SALT SPECKLES

OBJECTIVE
This standard covers the storage and handling of coloured salt/sulphate speckles. The information herewithin is important and
should be followed for reasons of safety and quality. This standard applies to any P&G site using the materials listed above.

For safety specifics and detailed chemical behaviour of the material, the appropriate supplier’s MSDS (Material Safety Data
Sheet) should be referred to.

This standard serves to form the basis for more detailed plant specific standard operating procedures and manufacturing standards.

MATERIAL DESCRIPTION
Free flowing, colouredcoarse granular speckle, made of a combination of Sodium Chloride (≤ 55%), Sodium Sulphate (≥ 45%),
Sodium Silicate (1.0-1.5%) and Pigment (0.5%) free from foreign material.

MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS
Refer to related material specification

STORAGE& HANDLING

Advise on Safe handling

General ventilation is recommended. Local ventilation is required. Avoid skin and eye contacy. Do not empty into drains. Use
respiratory protection when using, gloves and Safety googles.

Refer to material safety datasheet.

Advise on storage
Bags should be kept dry and away from moisture to avoid caking.

Material Temperature
Storage Temperature: minimum 0.0ºC, maximum 50ºC. Preferably below 40ºC

Transport Information
Road/Rail (ADR/RID): Not applicable
Sea transport (OMI/IMDG) Not applicable
Air transport (OACI/IATA). Not Applicable

DOT: This mixture is considered to be non-hazardous for transport.

Transfer / Addition to Process

Shipment should be done in 1000kg big bags as specified by the individual user plants.
During first use of the material, regular inspection of screw feeders and moving part should be made to ensure no product build
up.

Line Clearance
Vacuum or low pressure hot water should be used to clean the lines and prevent airbourne dust. Ensure equipment is thoroughly
dry before re-introducing the raw material.

Stacking
Material not to be stacked more than 1 pallet high.

Shelf-life
Provided material is stored in the original packaging, in dry conditions and is not exposed to direct sunlight, this raw material has
a shelf life of 3 years from receiving. This is in line with the supplier recommendation.

To extend material beyond shelf life all RMS parameters must be retested and there must be an assessment of colour versus
standard. Shelf life extensions beyond 3 years require TMO concurrence.

Product and packaging disposal

Dispose of in accordance with local regulations. According to the European Waste catalogue, Waste codes are not product
specific, but application specific. Waste codes should be assigned by the user, preferably in discussion with the waste disposal
authorities.
Changes to this issue: Admin update to removed material GCAS codes in title and information otherwise duplicated in the
material specification or safety data sheet. Updated shelf life to 3 years in line with supplier
recommendations.
