Creating a Red Cross Youth Link (Club)

From: Adrian Reid <areid@jamaicaredcross.org>
To: conradsawyers@yahoo.com

Dear Mr. Sawyers,

Thank you for contacting the National Headquarters today, as well as your interest in creating a Jamaica Red Cross Youth Link (Club) at your school.

Please see attached the documents detailing maintaining the Link, and also things the Youth Members are required to know. Attached also is a copy of the Youth Items price list (which would be
needed for their uniforms), and the Registration Form to be completed to register the Link (Club). You can complete the form on the computer and email it to me, along with a picture/scan of the
payment receipt, or you can always print it and deliver it in person. Additionally, there is a document detailing what the students’ uniforms are supposed to look like, and also the Youth Calendar of
Events for the Year.

Copied on the email are the Youth Chairperson for the parish of Westmoreland, Ms. Avagail White, as well as the Branch Director, Mr. Maceo Sibbles. Between Ms. White and Mr. Sibbles, they should
be able to assist with any further details as it relates to creating and maintaining the Red Cross Link at the Frome Technical High School, and also ways to keep the Link (Club) Members engaged.
Additionally, they will be able to keep the Link informed about other activities that the Westmoreland Branch is hosting.

The terms mentioned on the Registration Form pretty much refer to the persons in charge of the Red Cross Club (Link). The terms are as follows:

-          “Type of Link” – what kind of school is it? Basic, Primary, Tertiary, etc

-          “Address of Link” – where is the school located

-          “Cadet” in the Red Cross sense is used to refer to Red Cross Club (Link) members who have gotten to the tertiary level (18 years and older)

-           “Link” is the Red Cross term for the “Club”, so that would be the name of the school. As the aim of the Red Cross Youth Clubs is to form a “link of friendship”
among the Youth of the World. So your school would be a link in this “chain” of friendship.

-          “Link Patron” would be the teacher(s) that is in charge of the Red Cross Club (Link) at your school.

-          “Link President” would be the student president/leader of the Red Cross Club (Link) at your school

Additionally, with the current rumours of Dengue Fever still affecting persons, one can never be too safe, so I have attached a soft copy of the Dengue information sheet to the email that you can
print and circulate around your school and community.

Please provide me with the email address for your school so that we are able to keep the school in the loop when information is being sent out.

Ms. White and Mr. Sibbles, Mr. Sawyers can be reached at 876-812-9847, you can reach out to him to get the Frome Technical High School into the loop.

If there are any additional questions, feel free to contact me.

Thank you.

Regards,

Mr. Adrian Reid
