-But the Spanish seafaring community reacted strongly against the king’s acceptance
of the Portuguese-led expedition. The influence of Juan Rodríguez de Fonseca, the
bishop of Burgos and head of the powerful Casa de Contratación (House of
Commerce), an administration that oversaw all Spanish explorations, hindered the
proper organization of the expedition, which was delayed more than once.

-Magellan wanted to go to the spice islands of Moluccas Islands because spices from
Asia or from the east are quite popular and the products from Asia are in demand
among traders.

wounded, retreated as best as we could, to the boats which we were
already pulling off”

spices. The ship that remained is 2 which is named Trinidad and Victoria. They planned
on sailing but the problem is that Trinidad is not in a good condition and already had

Sebastian Elcano.
