1) How does Sustainable Development Goals differ to Millennium

Development Goals?
Answer: The SDGs build on the successes of the Millennium Development Goals
(MDGs), which embodies specific targets and milestones in eliminating extreme
poverty and the worst forms of human deprivation. The SDGs expanded its scope
to 17 goals from the eight (8) goals in the MDGs, which covers universal goals on
fighting inequalities, increasing economic growth, providing decent jobs,
sustainable cities and human settlements, industrialization, tackling ecosystems,
oceans, climate change, sustainable consumption and production as well as
building peace and strengthening justice and institutions. Unlike the MDGs,
which only targets the developing countries, the SDGs apply to all countries
whether rich, middle or poor countries. The SDGs are also nationally-owned and
country-led, wherein each country is given the freedom to establish a national
framework in achieving the SDGs.

2) How many Sustainable Development Goals do we have? What

are those?
Answer: there are 17 sustainable development goals and that is NO POVERTY, ZERO
HUNGER, GOOD HEALTH AND WELL BEING, QUALITY EDUCATION, GENDER
EQUALITY, CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION, AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY,
DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH, INDUSTRY INNOVATION AND
INFRASTRUCTURE, REDUCED INEQUALITIES, SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND
COMMUNITIES, RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION, CLIMATE ACTION,
LIFE BELOW WATER, LIFE ON LAND, PEACE JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTION,
PARTNERSHIP FOR THE GOALS and that's the 17 sustainable development goals.

Countries facing
illegal migration.
GERMANY
 Germany received 1,383,580 new migrants into the country in 2018, by
far the largest number by any OECD member country. The number of
new migrants arriving in the country that year was just 438 fewer than in
2017, but a substantial reduction of the more than 2 million new
migrants who arrived in the country in 2015.The country also received
161,930 applications from individuals seeking asylum, a roughly 2%
decrease from the previous year.
 Reasons for migration include conflicts, persecution, poverty,
unemployment, lack of education, discrimination based on gender or
religion, and a general lack of prospects in migrants’ countries of origin
(known as push factors). The main pull factors in the countries of
destination include family or friends already there, the possibility of
employment and social insurance.
- Labour-related immigration has a positive effect on
production potential in two ways: firstly, immigration raises
the number of workers and more goods and services can
be produced. Secondly, ongoing studies have shown that
migrants who come to find work are better qualified than
national workers and consequently raise work productivity.
In a calculation model, the German Council of Economic
Experts has estimated that migration in general will have
significantly positive growth effects on medium-term
production potential in the next few years. If only qualified
immigrants were taken into account in this kind of
estimate, the results would be even more positive.
UNITED STATES
 The U.S. formally received 1,096,611 migrants into the country
in 2018, a nearly 3% decrease from the previous
year.Additionally, the country received 254,300 applications
from individuals seeking asylum in 2018, a 23% decrease from
2017.
 While immigration has been at the forefront of a national
political debate, the U.S. public holds a range of views about
immigrants living in the country. Overall, a majority of Americans
have positive views about immigrants. About two-thirds
of Americans (66%) say immigrants strengthen the
country “because of their hard work and talents,” while about a
quarter (24%) say immigrants burden the country by taking jobs,
housing and health care.
The following are eight reasons why people
choose to immigrate specifically to the United
States.
 Higher Standard of Living.
 Education.
 Job Opportunities.
 Reunification.
 Marriage.
 Persecution and Violence.
 Politics.
 And Lastly because it’s AMERICA.
INDIA
 Illegal immigration from Bangladesh to India, which includes both refugees and
economic migrants, continues unabated. There is no reliable figure on the exact
number of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh in India. An analysis of
population growth and demographic statistics for Bangladesh and India in the
last four censuses of 2011, 2001, 1991, and 1981, however, suggests with
reasonable certainty that their number exceeds 15 million. Most of them have
settled in states along the border with Bangladesh, and some subsequently
moved to other parts of India, including its remote corners. A large number are
engaged in menial jobs in metropolitan cities in different parts of India.
 The influx of such a large number of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, particularly
in the border states, has proved to be a huge challenge for India with serious
implications for its resources and national security. It has substantially
contributed to changing the demographic pattern in the northeastern states of
India, where the locals feel overwhelmed by the outsiders. This has adversely
affected their way of life and led to simmering tension between the two sides.
MALAYSIA
 There are an estimated 800,000 illegal immigrants
in Malaysia. In January 2009, Malaysia banned the hiring of
foreign workers in factories, stores and restaurants to
protect its citizens from mass unemployment amid the late
2000s recession. An ethnic Indian Malaysian was recently
sentenced to whipping and 10 months in prison for hiring
six illegal immigrants at his restaurant. "I think that after
this, Malaysian employers will be afraid to take in foreign
workers (without work permits). They will think twice", said
immigration department prosecutor Azlan Abdul Latiff. "This
is the first case where an employer is being sentenced to
caning", he said. Illegal immigrants also face caning before
being deported.
PHILIPPINES
 It was estimated by Teresita Ang-See, a prominent leader
and activist of the Chinese Filipino community, that by
2007, as much as 100,000 illegal immigrants from mainland
China are living in the Philippines, a tenth of the ethnic
Chinese population. The latest influx has come in part
because of Manila's move in 2005 to liberalise entry
procedures for Chinese tourists and investors, a move that
helped triple the number of Chinese visitors to 133,000 last
year. Many of the new Chinese immigrants encounter
hostility from many Filipinos, including Filipino-born
Chinese, for being perceived as engaging in criminal
activities and fraud.
Thank you!

1)Define Asian Regionalism.

Answer:Regionalism is a political ideology which seeks to increase the political power,
influence and/or self-determination of the people of one or more subnational regions

2)Differentiate Asian Regionalism and Globalism

Answer?Economic connection is the source of Asian regionalism,... Rather of selling to
each other, East Asian economies concentrated on exporting to industrialized markets.
They began by focusing on simple, labor-intensive manufacturing.

The term "globalization" refers to how trade and technology have made the world a more
interconnected and interdependent place. The economic and social developments that
have resulted from globalization are also included in its scope. Many academics believe
it began with Columbus' trip to the New World.

3)Give the 5 most successful economies that have been struck by the crisis.
Answer:Indonesia 1978 and 1982,Thailand in 1979, korea 1980 and Malaysia and
Singapore in 1985.

4)What is the significance of asian regionalism?

Answer:A vibrant and outward-looking Asian regionalism might be extremely beneficial
not only to Asia, but also to the rest of the world. It has the potential to improve the
region's prosperity, stability, and, with the correct policies, alleviate inequality.

5)What makes Asian Regionalism significant in Globalization?

Answer:Economic interaction, not political planning, is the source of Asian regionalism.
Asian economies have grown not only richer, but also closer together, as a result of
successful, outward-oriented economic methods. Regional integration was slow in the
early phases of Asia's economic development.
