ABSTRACT
The use of website design for enhancing Caloocan high school

enrollment is the main function of this research paper, School website is a

website built, designed, and maintained by a school. In many legislations, they

used it to publish certain information on-line, on their website. It is also used

for on-line enrollment and enhancement for their school capabilities, Website

has accessible design but also a simple navigation system. To provide timely,

engaging, and current information for students and parents. The study

focused on the use of website design as a tool for enhancing Caloocan high

school enrollment, and this primary focusing on using Website design.

The researcher analyzes and provides information on how effective the

website design is for enrollment. In a large sample size, this research will be

established by using true experimental research design that uses a post-test

control group that sixty (60) respondents from Caloocan high school, only to

gather statistical data will be needed to construct a solidified result. To show

the students how website design works, researchers created a website layout

that can use the basic information of the website to use it to conduct a survey

from room to room and show the website. The survey chose close-ended

questions that had three parts: the first is composed of demographics, and the

second is collected of questions that will determine the effectiveness of

website enrollment for Caloocan High School students. The questions are in

Likert scale form. The questionnaires were modified to a 5-point Likert scale

with a range from strongly agree to strongly disagree.

Findings indicated that the majority of the students who are enrolled on

the academic year 2022-2023, agree with using website design for enhancing

Caloocan high school enrollment. However, a small percentage of students

disagree with using website design. Considering the positive and negative

sides of using the website for enhancing Caloocan high school, researchers

expected that there would be some students who would not agree to using the

website because they don't have the capacity to use it and that they had some

trouble with using the Website.

Chapter I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

An online enrollment system benefits everyone in schools including

learners, parents, and school admins. It streamlines the process, saves time,

and costs, allows for accurate and real-time tracking. At the end of the day, it

contributes to a higher rate of enrollment and re-enrollment and gives you

visibility. A website is the best way for the enrollees to get to know you. Imagine

the visibility it will give you to appear at the top of Google search results when

a person searches for a school with characteristics like yours. Schools that have

a website can put such basic but important information as educational levels,

educational model, means of contact, curricula, history, mission, facilities, and

other information that helps you to solve the doubts of those who are just getting

to know you. A well-designed and attractive website will help you position

yourself in front of your competition, which in the end translates into attracting

future students and gaining enrollments. And the advantage of having a website

is helps to attract new students like Today we look for the answer to all our

questions, concerns and problems in Google, and of course, looking for our

future school or a school for our children is no exception. That’s why it’s

important for your educational institution to have a website because it’s the way

those people can reach you. Even if someone wants to enroll with you on the

recommendation of friends or family, they will most likely end up visiting your

site to evaluate for themselves aspects such as location, facilities, costs, and

Background of the Study

Enrollment, one of the problems of many when school days are near.

Senior/Junior high enrollments usually take lots of time. Due in large part to

the large number of students and the even more massive number of files,

forms, and documents families must submit files, forms, and documents that

schools must then process. An online platform makes it easy to eliminate

physical forms and manage student enrollment in a timely, cost-effective

manner (Alyson Keenze, 2021). This can be help collecting data from

student’s enrollment forms that become a difficult task for the registrar and for

the advisers (Carlo E. Habahab &Gilbert Y. Bernas, 2019). Thus, the

researchers are planning on making a website tool to enhance and make the

enrollment system in Caloocan High School easier and faster.

Significance of the Study

This study is conducted to benefit the following:

STUDENTS. This study will provide information on how effective the website

design for enrollment and this may also serve them as a guide and reference

for undertaking similar studies.

PARENTS. This study will help them provide information for the enrollment and

they will know how effective website design is.

FUTURE RESEARCHERS. This study will be a useful reference for the

researchers who would plan to make any related study precisely in website

design.

This study focuses on the use of Online Enrollment through a

website design that is to be used as a tool for amplifying the Caloocan High

School Enrollment event for the returning Students who wants to enroll in

school in the SY 2022 – 2023.

This study covers Grade 11 and 12 Senior High School Students

at Caloocan High School (CHS) because they are the ones that will use our

website in the future. Junior High School students, teachers, and personnel

are excluded from the study.

The researchers will use Purposive sampling and will select

respondents based on their experience and knowledge.

REVIEW OF THE LITERATURE AND CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK.

Related Literature (Foreign and Local)

School Website

Some universities have excellent websites, which have already

incorporated modern design styles featuring large photographic banners while

improving information access with a user-friendly navigation system (Gaines,

2013). The University of Chicago provides an excellent example of an

institution, which pays attention to both enhancement of visual elements

(including high-resolution photography) and user-friendly site navigation for

optimum functionality. Using high-resolution photography on home page

banners is known to generate interest and captivate the visitor. Photographs are

excellent visual aids when they are large enough to be seen easily (Stephen,

2009).

Students appear to trust a professionally designed website more and

find it more credible for accessing information (Youngblood, 2013). The

credibility of a website affects a user’s interest in the site’s content and,

consequently, users tend to spend longer sessions on the site and access more

information. (The Effectiveness of Website Design in Higher Education

Recruitment by Treanor et al. 2016)

According to this study, websites enhance university/school’s both

enrollment and advertisement. A professionally made website design would

verify the students that the website is created specifically for school purposes,

thus will make them fully trust the website and give their information needed for

the enrollment process. A friendly designed website will engage people to visit

and enroll, the design can also include Caloocan High School’s head

administrators and Supreme Student Government Officials for others to

familiarize those personnel. Involving the school’s event photos, clubs and

organizations they can join to may persuade them to enroll to Caloocan high

School.

Manual Programming

Manual programming involves numerous calculations and verifications

without the use of a computer. The programmer must program in the same

language the CNC machine will execute, creating a step-by-step order of

commands that make the machine run accordingly. (Mazak Corp., 2016).

In this research, the researchers used Hyper Text Markup Language

(HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) , and JavaScript in making the website

design.

According to Mozilla.org, Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) is the

most basic building block of the Web. It defines the meaning and structure of

web content. HTML uses "markup" to annotate text, images, and other content

for display in a Web browser.

CSS is a language for specifying how documents are presented to users

— how they are styled, laid out, etc. CSS can be used for very basic document

text styling — for example, for changing the color and size of headings and links.

JavaScript is the main scripting language for Web browsers, and it is

essential to modern Web applications. Programmers have started using it for

writing complex applications, but there is still little tool support available during

development (Jensen, et.al, 2009)

Website Convenience

The advantages of using websites to collect data and information

Include the speed aspect. It is much quicker to input a search and have results

returned often within five seconds, compared to visiting a library to look for

material. Websites tend to be more up to date than books and magazines as

they can be quick to update. Websites are used by many people, and it can

reach more than two people at the same time. (Everett et al. 2022)

Same goes for using websites for enrollment purposes. It is faster to

collect data on websites rather than going to school personally. People’s

answers can be modified before they submit their information. People can also

go back to the website any time they want or when they have questions rather

than going back to school every time. Websites are also updated easily

therefore when the school posts an announcement it can be seen immediately.

Websites also means less paper works on offices and registrations which can

prevent the piling up of paper documents which is convenient for both enrollees

and administrators.

Viewing Tool

A web browser or simply browser is an application used to access and

to view a website. Common web browser include Microsoft edge internet

explorer, google chrome, Mozilla fox and apple safari.

Time and Section selection

Making a class schedule for the next semester that suits as student's

interest and meets overall graduation requirements within a time frame is not

always easy. The changing requirements transferable units of different schools,

the availability of classes and other factors can often caused mistakes in the

scheduling process. An automated tool can help students to identify scheduling

mistakes and compare available options. This paper introduces a web-based

expert system called class schedule planner.

Enhancement of Enrollment

According to Garcia (2002), the study can be a great help to persons

concerned during the enrollment period, the registrar, instructor of the students

as they retrieve necessary information when needed and lessen the burden

manually browsing over enrollment slip for record purposes.

The enhanced enrollment guidelines shall also guide school heads,

teachers, and parents or legal guardians regarding the new enrollment process,

which would last until August 22, 2022, the official school opening day for the

next academic year.

Furthermore, the said guidelines will likewise implement improvements in

the reporting mechanisms, the Enhanced Basic Education Enrollment Form

(BEEF), and the encoding procedure in the Learner Information System (LIS).

(DepEd, 2022)

The Enhancement Enrollment guidelines will guide the school and

parents in regard to the new enrollment process that would last until the 22th of

August, being the enrollment would give more information and would also ease

the difficulty of browsing manually which would fasten the process of enrolling,

the guidelines would said enhance the reporting mechanisms such as the Basic

Education Enrollment Form and the Learner Information System.

Online Enrollment: Luzon-University of Luzon, Visayas-College de San

Ildefonso, and in Mindanao-University of Southern Mindanao.

Website Functions

Priority has until now been given to the technical dimensions and the

functional aspects of web design, which is due to the fact that the web site is

still a relatively recent medium, which has opened up new challenges in terms

of navigational structures and opportunities for user interaction. In spite of the

rapid development of IT-technology and the great amount of attention paid to

the functional aspects in web design, the problems of constructing user-friendly

web sites are far from solved from the point of view of the functionalists. The

hyper functionalist approach to web design was emphatically introduced in

connection with the publishing of his book Usability Engineering from 1993,

where he used the slogan ”Less Is More”, which is a wording he took over from

the modernist architect Mies van der Rohe (Engholm, 2003, p. 127). With all the

incredible web design features available, school websites can make

administrative tasks more efficient and paper-free. Teachers can assign

homework, post grades and even facilitate exams online, and parents can

enroll, register and pay tuition with convenient forms and payment tools.

In order to create a well functioning website, web designers or web

developers must consider how users interact with a website and what they’re

trying to achieve on the platform. Using this information, web designers can

create an intuitive interface that is easy to navigate. Accessibility, navigation,

and usability are all factors that make a website functional. Therefore, by

developing a high-quality site for school enrollment will attract more traffic and

increase user engagement rate.

Web design must prioritize access and navigation as key components to

ensure an inclusive and user-friendly experience. Access encompasses the

design features that cater to diverse user groups, enabling all users, including

those with disabilities, to benefit from the website's content and services.

Navigation involves creating a seamless user journey within the website, using

intuitive menus, links, and interactive elements to guide users to their desired

content. A well-designed navigation system and accessibility features increase

website functionality, usability, and user satisfaction. Therefore, websites must

prioritize access and navigation to achieve greater engagement and success.

Personal and school information

and-out throughout the school year and better security Paper files, while handy,

are at a higher risk for loss and theft. Additionally, personal information on paper

files is more accessible to prying eyes. Keep safe in affected by fire or water

damage, you could lose a lot of valuable, important information and records.

Digital storage, however, allows for secure off-site backups that can be

accessed from anywhere. And it better for environment How many sheets of

paper do we have in your office? How many more sheets of paper will you add

if we continue to print every form and document? If we reduce using paper, we

can save some of our trees however the use of digital document it keeps us a

Personal information of the students like identity, age, academic level,

social status, personal health records, conduct, and behaviors, or attendance

records, as well as his digital data such as personal e-mail address, phone

number, contact details, should be in a safety storage like a data support system

from websites it will stores digitally, so it will not misplace. School and personal

info will be in safe place. We need security for the documents so that they

cannot be lost or damaged, and if they are damaged over time, it is possible to

use an online backup through a website, and it will simplify information

searches. Personal information is vital information in the school because it

Website designs are more advance in this generation.

According to Mike Kelly(2010),Outdated,incorrect information lingers

mainly because we don’t have a single source of “truth”.According to National

Research Council inputting outdated or false information may result in being

denied certain benefits that providing true information enable.

According to Diane Ravitch in the year 2002, The information of students

are very important to school, so that they will know whether you are still in school

or not. This information can be used to monitor the records of students progress

alike grades and academic performances. In case that the information is

missing or loss about a students It can lead to a number of problems, such as

making emergency calls to parents or guardians becoming difficult. to prevent

the to avoid losing some important information keeping your personal

information updated so that your school can contact you incase of an

emergency or important updates.

documents and personal information are protected from loss, unauthorized

access use, modification or disclosure, and misuse (Office of the Information

student, and this information needed to be encrypted so that this information will

not be used in another purpose. Security of the website must be stronger to

ensure the security of the information. Making sure that unauthorized people

cannot access or utilize data preventing data loss and preserving the integrity

and confidentiality of the information. School information can also be relatively

stable, such as the name of the school, strand or courses, grades may regularly

change based on a student's development and commitment.

everyone. Many variables have been identified and investigated to determine

their impact on the student’s choice of school, universities, and colleges. The

largest challenge of collecting information on student’s is not having enough

time. All the teachers and school staff are already overworked, and they don’t

feel like there is enough time to devote to data collection, implementation, and

analysis. It’s difficult to find the time to read students files, but if you haven’t

before, trust me, it’s well worth it. She reflects on a time when she chose to take

the time to read files on students she was concerned about (Alber, 2021).

One of the most important factors in school growth is the overall quality

of the experience. Parents are investing significant resources to provide the very

best education for their child and because of this, they expect the best. A high-

quality experience must be integrated throughout your school to grow your

enrollment (Newberry, 2012)

Collection of information allows you to identify which applicants are the

Best fit for your institution by comparing in-system parameters like their age,

location, the course of interest, GPA/test results, etc. to a new inquiry.

enrolled, but sometimes schools are not really prepared for enrollment, and it

causes many issues that students need to give a lot of information for their

METHODOLOGY

Research Design

This study used a true experimental research design study. In this

design, we used to experiment with the relationships between the Website

Design and CHS School Enrollment among Grade 12 students. The purpose of

this research is to gather statistical data, and the result of the experiment of the

relationship between and among various facts must be identified and

interpreted. The research design must identify the research objective, and the

relationship between dependent and independent variables. True Experimental

research design is used to determine the prevalence and relationships among

dependent and independent variables, conducting a post-test and analyzing the

collected data to forecast events from current data and knowledge. Despite its

many uses, prudence is required when using the methodology and analyzing

data.

The Sample

Purposeful sampling was used in this study, whereby the researchers

selected a sample based on the experience and knowledge of the group to be

sampled. Those participants chosen for the study must be willing to recall and

describe their experiences related to the phenomenon. Participants live in South

Caloocan City, 5% of Senior High students from Caloocan High School.

The Instrument(s)

The Researchers let the students experience our website enrollment

form and used surveys, which were performed through google forms and were

made to obtain information about the study that may be gained through online

responses of the respondents. The questionnaires consisted of closed-ended

questions and a Likert scale.

The Researchers chose close-ended questions since it is easier to

administer and analyze. The questionnaires have three parts: the first is

composed of demographics, and the second is collected of questions that will

determine the effectiveness of website enrollment for senior high in Caloocan

High School. The questions are in Likert scale form. The questionnaires were

modified to a 5-point Likert scale with a range from (1) "strongly disagree" to

(5) "strongly agree," which will determine respondents’ opinions regarding the

effectiveness of website enrollment for senior high. And lastly, the third part is

where the respondents will rate the enrollment website on a scale of 1-5

Result

Out of 60 respondents from Grades 11-12, Senior High School students

were surveyed and experimented with, 48.4 percent of them agreed on the

criteria that state using the website design for enrollment in senior high school,

while 2.33 total mean of the students disagreed to use the website design.

Data Collection Procedure

In order to collect the data needed, the researchers made a consent letter

to the registrar’s office, and asked Ma’am Rosalie Tagulao (Registrar

Personnel) sign the paper to get the total number of Senior High Enrollees per

section. On conducting the survey, a permit was drawn up and had to be signed

by Mrs.Jerosalem T. Bagaforo (Research Adviser) to show that the letter was

legitimate and approved. The survey permit will then be passed to Ma’am

Marites Asuncion (Grade 12 Coordinator) and Ma’am Hazel De Leon (Grade 11

Coordinator) for their approval to survey both Grade 11&12 students. The

Researchers will then go room to room and show the website for about 5

minutes, then send them the Google form survey via messenger chat.

This study aims to enhance Caloocan High School’s Senior High

Enrollment using Website Design. Technologically, a website design is far more

convenient for enrollment than enrolling personally, especially if the Enrollees

are far from the school.

Slovin’s Formula

The researchers used Slovin’s Formula to get the proper sample size.

In order to get the margin of error, divide the population standard deviation by

the total number of students. Use Slovin’s formula, solve the denominator by

multiplying 0.0143 by itself then, multiply it by 60 (targeted sample size based

on methodology) and add 1 which will result in 1.0122694. Divide 60 by the

result to get the appropriate sample size of 59.27.

According to 68.9% of respondents, online enrollment is much easier than

enrolling personally, which falls under the verbal interpretation of “Agree”.

Website design is one of the most important when enrolling online. It

significantly impacts the usability, credibility, and overall success of a website.

A well-designed website can help users navigate and find the information they

need while establishing trust and credibility for the website and its owner.

The majority of Senior High School students in Caloocan High School

(67.2%) agreed that the website design is better than using Google Forms when

it comes to online enrollment. This shows that the Senior High School students

consider the website design attractive, easy to use, essential and convenient

for the school.

Based on the results of our survey majority of the students (83.6%)

agreed that our website helpful for getting enrolled because not only can

students benefit from the easiness of the website, but also the registrar’s offices

and majorities of the votes would prefer other universities to have their website

design in enrollment because it would help out other universities ease out the

enrollment process in an instant.

The response we got in the statement of the problem is mostly to agree

that website design does attract students. People nowadays want no hassle and

do not want to spend time coming to school where they wish to enroll. in this

way, website design makes a great help and attracts people because of its

simple and accessible features. A website for online enrollment can probably

attract students. The enrollment process can be made simpler and more

accessible by using an effective online enrollment website, which can offer a

practical, effective, and informative experience for Students and Parents.

This Re-conceptualized framework shows that some variables didn’t

change at all. Only the changes happened in the variables of influence it adds

means using website design to improve Caloocan high school enrollment is

highly effective as it shows in the data of intervention that has 60 respondents

results to 48.4 total mean of the students agree with every criterion of the

website and the 2.33 total mean of the students disagree with every criterion of

the website. The data indicates 48% of the students agree. 2.3% of the students

only disagree to used website design for the enrollment, As the researcher

expected, there will be some students will not agree of using the website

because they don't have the capacity to used it and that they had some trouble

of using the website, considering positive and negative sides of using the

website for enhancing Caloocan senior high school enrollment has been always

in the mind of the Researcher.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Conclusions

Based on the findings of this study, the following conclusions were made:

1. The website design is acceptable in terms of enhancing Caloocan High

School's senior high enrollment.

2. the senior high school students agree that the Caloocan High school

website design is easy to use/navigate.

3. Senior High school students agree that having a website design is an easier

way to enroll rather than enrolling personally.

4 Using a website design is convenient for senior high school students and

administrators.

Recommendations

Considering the findings of this study, the following recommendations are

offered:

1. Create a Flow chart to show the instructions on how to use the website

for enrollment.

2. Enhance its features and secure every user of this website, the website

design should improve more in terms of the website serving system.
