Change Management Theory

The change management theory that is preferable and will be selected for the project

is the ADKAR change management model. Each letter in ADKAR stands for an objective

that will help the project. A means awareness of the need for change, D represents desire, K

for knowledge on what is needed for change, A the ability that is behavior and skills, while R

represents reinforcement in sustaining the change (Wong et al., 2019). I selected the ADKAR

model for change management focusing on employees, which helps in limiting resistance,

which will help fast implementation of the project. Focusing on employees will foster their

desire to be a team member in the project.

The nurses, who are the staff in this project, are the main resources. Giving focus to

the nurses using the ADKAR model will help the project grow, expand, and be sustained. The

ADKAR model values support and inputs of staff, giving them a reason to offer their services

(Wong et al., 2019). To help develop a change management plan, the model will provide

insight on how change can be achieved, give employees the confidence they need in

relevance to the project, and ensure maintenance of focus to the project's goals.
