    CHAPTER 3

    PURPOSE OF THE STUDY


    3.1 PROBLEM DEFINITION
    The problems related to customer order lead time was studied in the company and the
    problems identified are as follows,

    1) The items had no code system to identify the components.

    2) There was no specified location in the store room in the existing store layout, it
    increased the order picking time.

    3) There was a material shortage problem to complete the order within due date.

    4) More idle time prevails in the assembly process.

    3.2 OBJECTIVE OF THIS STUDY


    The objective of this project was to reduce the lead time of the customer order.
