Class activity 1 (10 marks)
o The previous slide lists down Kohl’s value Americans live by, as described by Samovar, Porter,
McDaniel, & Roy (2017). Based on the three short clips of the The Middle, complete the following:
1. List down FIVE values from the Kohl's Value Americans Live By that you observe in the video and
include short description of the scene as an example. Be specific with your description of the scene.
2. Compare and contrast the value with the Islamic point of view. Support the Islamic POV with
Quranic verse/Hadith.
E.g., "Directness, openness and honesty, in The Middle scene where Sue (clip 2, minute....) This value
contradicts with the Islamic POV that tends to value... for example"
