Simple Present Tense

1. The purpose of the simple present tense :

a. To describe a person / place / thing at the present time.
Example ;
 She works in a hospital
 He has a spiky hair

b. To talk about things you do every day.

Example :
 I usually go to bed at 09.30 pm.
 We always read books in the evenings.
 She never eats meat.
2. The forms are :
a. Positive Sentence
S + V1
Ket : S : Subject ( I, You, She, He, It, We, They )
V1 : Verb1 ( kata kerja bentuk 1 )
 Jika kalimat positif diawali Subject I, YOU, WE, THEY, maka kata kerja ( V1 )
tidak perlu ditambah S/ES
Contoh : I go to school at 6.30
 Jika kalimat positif diawali Subject SHE, HE, IT, maka kata kerja ( V1 )
ditambah S/ES
Contoh : He goes to school at 6.30

b. Negative Sentence

He/She/It + does not (doesn’t) + V1

Contoh : She doesn’t study English on Monday.

I/You/ We/They + do not (don’t) + V1

Contoh : They don’t study English on Monday.

Ctt :
Untuk kalimat negative , kata kerja (verb1) tidak perlu ditambah S/ES

c. Interrogative Sentence

Does + he/she/it + V1 ?

Contoh : Does she live on Jl. Mawar ?

Jawab : Yes, she does
atau
No, she doesn’t

Do + I/you/we/they + V1 ?
Contoh : Do they have three children ?
Jawab : Yes, they do
atau
No, they don’t

Untuk kalimat pertanyaan (interrogative sentence), kata kerja (verb1) tidak perlu
ditambahi S/ES
