Abstract

This study was conducted to find out the impacts of electronic device on children’s social

development at Mulpani, Birendranagar-3, Surkhet district.

In this study, which was conducted in Bhadra of 2079 B.S., 30 respondents having children and

device user were interviewed using simple purposive sampling methodology. A structured

questionnaire was administered to the respondents. The objectives of this study were to find out

impacts on social development of children due to excessive use of electronic usage and to find

out electronic device do the children use mostly. The study was limited in the area of Mulpani,

BNP-3, Surkhet, targeted to those respondents who have children and electronic device user and

completed in 30 households among 260 households according to senses in 2011.

The presented research focused to examine the extent of electronic device and its influence on

the social development of children. The findings of the study suggest that electronic device affect

in social development of children as they stuck to this device during any kind of program inside the

home and outside the home. Even if there is no internet or power, children want to spend their

time with device by using offline application instead of playing physical games, interaction with

family members or other people and engaging any kind of learning activities. Children are being

less socialization, less interactive and less involve in physical activities. The result indicates that

the electronic device has become an addiction among the young children.
