Major Classification – in this classification the finger we consider are the two thumbs. The right thumb represent the
numerator and the left thumb represent the denominator.
When both thumb are whorl type they are the result of the ridge tracing (I, M, O).
When both thumb are loop type they are ridge counted and by using the following formula:

1 – 11 = S 1 - 11 = S 1 - 17 = S
12- 16 = M 12- 16 = M 18- 22 = M
17 or more = L 17 or more = L 23 or more = L

Note: When the value of the left thumb is 17 or more we need to change the value of the right thumb to value III, but do
not change the value of the left thumb.
