Graphology
- The word Graphology was coined
by Abb Jean Hippolyte Michon
- Derived from Greek word Grapho (writing) and Logos
(relates to discussion or theory or science)
- Is an inference of character from a person’s handwriting
(Britannica.com)
It means the analysis of the
physical characteristics and
patterns of handwriting to
determine personality traits of
an individual.
It is commonly applied in some areas like:
Employment Profiling
Psychological Analysis
Marital Compatibility
Medical Diagnosis
And also in crimes like:
Ransom notes
Signatures
Poison pen letters

Integrative Graphology
-Focuses on various strokes either relation to
personality of an individual or person.
Holistic Graphology
- Is based on form, movement during writing,
and use of space.

1. Manual Analysis
It is simply done by the graphologist in
which he/she analyse the given handwriting
by using the various tools such as magnifying
glass etc. and observe the various features of
handwriting and then determine the
personality of the writer.

Pen
Pressure
Slant
Size and
Position of
letters
Movement
Headings
Tendencies
towards right or left
Observing the

2. Automatic Handwriting Analysis through
Computer
It is a Computer Aided Graphology (CAG)
system that helps graphologists to analyse
fast, efficient and in an error free manner;
and to obtain the personality description
of the writers on the basis of the CAG
system.
CAG System involves the
following steps:

2.Preprocessing of the image
3.Feature Extraction
4.Analyzing Feature
