Handwriting Analysis

This document provides an overview of graphology, which is the analysis of handwriting to determine personality traits. It defines key terms, describes the two main types of graphology as integrative and holistic. It outlines how manual and automatic/computer-based analyses are conducted. Manual analysis involves examining features of handwriting like spacing, size, slant, and movements. Automatic analysis uses computer aided graphology systems involving scanning, preprocessing, feature extraction, and analyzing features to determine a personality description. The document also lists some common applications of graphology in employment, relationships, medicine, and analyzing criminal evidence.

(relates to discussion or theory or science)

- Is an inference of character from a person’s handwriting

(Britannica.com)
It means the analysis of the
physical characteristics and
patterns of handwriting to
determine personality traits of
an individual.
It is commonly applied in some areas like:
Employment Profiling
Psychological Analysis
Marital Compatibility
Medical Diagnosis

And also in crimes like:

Ransom notes
Signatures
Poison pen letters
2 Types of Graphology

Integrative Graphology
-Focuses on various strokes either relation to
personality of an individual or person.

Holistic Graphology
- Is based on form, movement during writing,
and use of space.
2 Ways to carry out
the Handwriting Analysis:
1.Manual Way

2.Automatic Handwriting
Analysis through computer
1. Manual Analysis

It is simply done by the graphologist in

which he/she analyse the given handwriting
by using the various tools such as magnifying
glass etc. and observe the various features of
handwriting and then determine the
personality of the writer.
The features are:

 Word Spacing

 Line Spacing

 Page Margin
 Alignment

 Pen
Pressure

 Slant
 Size and

letters

 Movement

 Headings
 Tendencies
towards right or left

 Observing the
position as well as
Shape of i-dots

 Observing the
position as well as
Shape of T-bars
2. Automatic Handwriting Analysis through
Computer

It is a Computer Aided Graphology (CAG)

system that helps graphologists to analyse
fast, efficient and in an error free manner;
and to obtain the personality description
of the writers on the basis of the CAG
system.
CAG System involves the
following steps:

1.Scanning
2.Preprocessing of the image
3.Feature Extraction
