Incident Description (Incident Phenomena)

No matter how strong optical power input the LACT card , output were always low power (-
40dbm) (measured by optical power meter), the board can not adjust attenuation , default
attenuation value is 1.70db. When try to return zero operation on the NMS , adjusting the
attenuation appeared error , The error message is as follows:

HOB-LACT,the command is failed on equipment(configuring operation command can make the

operation happen,but cannot verify the result,error code:0x2017),error code:92508216
Networking Environment

Problem Cause Analysis

1, check whether the input power of LACT is normal or not

2, replace the LACT board to judge whether the LACT board is broken or not ;
3,check the card version and the NMS version whether they are mismatch or not ;
4, check the important data of the LACT whether the important data is incorrect .
Solution

1, Input 7dBm power signal to L ACT ,The “ LACT Power Adjustment” show -0.13dbm on U31 ,
but the actual output show -40dbm by optical power meter . After the operation of returning zero
, show error similarly . Exclude the disqualification possiblity of input signal

2, Replace the LACT with the one from other sites,the phenomenon is the same.
3, operate returning zero in E300 EMS,the phenomenon is the same.Exclude the possibility of
EMS.

4, check the LACT board important data , found the LACT board VOA type is MEMS . But the
important data of the LACT board were wrriten as mechanical type .So changed the important
data byte 55 and byte 56, the fualt was resolved.
