Bandit by Joshua Ning

The wailing police sirens could be heard from

many blocks away as the red and blue lights
flashed past the bench Ian was sitting on. The park
was bustling with policemen setting up roadblocks
and interrogating passerbys.

Ian looked around the park, his eyes scanning past

the distant Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. He stood
up to leave, tripping and slamming into a
policeman on the way out. He profusely
apologised to the swearing policeman, who angrily
stared at him for disrupting his work.

Outside the park, he took a moment to take in the

breeze and the night view of the majestic Eiffel
Tower. The Louvre was closed, due to an incident
that occurred a few hours ago. Passersby watched
Ian walk past, thinking how mundane he looked. No
one saw the stolen ID in his hand, or the gleaming
ruby necklace from the Louvre in his coat pocket.
