ABSTRACT
temperatures and other environmental extremes are among these stresses. The
main causes of crop loss worldwide include abiotic stress, in particular hyper-
salinity and drought. The study was conducted to compare the different effects of
abiotic stress on the growth rate and yield of pechay for 151 days or 22 weeks.
Five pots were tested under two abiotic stresses conditions; salinity and drought
stress. Five pots (control, 20% irrigation water, 40% irrigation water, 60%
irrigation water, 80% irrigation water) were tested for drought stress. Five pots
(control, 0.2mM NaCl, 0.4mM NaCl, 0.6mM NaCl, 0.8mM NaCl) were used for
salt stress. All pots were placed under natural environment wherein the the two
(2) groups were conducted. The results showed a highly significant difference in
the height and yield of pechay between salt stress and drought stress . The most
noticeable differences in yield and height were the plants put into salinity stress.
This implies that although there is a certain range of values between salinity
stress and drought stress, both stresses truly gained both on biomass and length
