I am writing to express my interest in becoming a teacher in your school district. My name is
Susan Jensen. I grew up on a farm near Badger, SD, and attended Arlington High School. I
graduated in May 2019. I will graduate Dakota State University in May 2023 with a degree in
Elementary Education/Special Education with minors in K-12 Reading, K-8 Educational
Technology, and English as a New Language. I am also getting my Kindergarten Endorsement.
I am very passionate about teaching and have wanted to be a teacher for a long time. In high
school, I got the opportunity to help in the preschool, kindergarten, second, and fourth grade
rooms as a teacher’s aide. This experience along with working at the daycare helped me realize I
want to be a teacher. I am excited to take my experience into the classroom and continue learning
from my peers.
I am excited at the thought of becoming a teacher and would love to get the chance to teach in
your school district. Throughout my time at Dakota State University, I have taken courses to help
me prepare for the classroom. I also completed my student teaching in the SPED department and
the 4th grade classroom at the Lake Preston School District. I am looking forward to continuing
