2.0 PROBLEM STATEMENT

The business of opening café near the student hostel, located at Zetapak, Setapak Kuala
Lumpur is in a declining growth rate whereby it had bottomed the list of places student would like to
dine in. Process to identify the problem is done in order to identify the problems encountered during
the opening of this cafe. There are some problems that we can state. Looking at the problems the other
cafés around the hostel located at the Zetapak, Setapak Kuala Lumpur, there could be five major
problems that can be issued at café Z.

2.1 Financial Issue

There are few problems that lead to this project. Firstly, we identify the problem of
student is about the finance issue. There are some students are often to exposed to all sorts of
financial problems as students, from primary to secondary school and so on. Some of these
problems include their self-problems that can make their own financial in trouble. However,
the most crucial problem among students nowadays is didn’t have enough money to survive
their life as university students because of some factors that can influence their life as a
student. There are problems that student face in their financial it is lack of money. The
problem that students face is they don’t have enough money to continue their life at university
like other people. Beside the background family didn’t have money to help student when they
are in need.

5
2.2 Dietary Selection Factors

Secondly, the problem state is Dietary selection factors of student. For example, the
rice, mee and other. Among the factors that influence food choices are the environment,
traditions, habits, social status and properties of the food. The habit of students choosing and
buying food by evaluating several criteria simultaneously such as service, price and purchase
is not sensitive.

Whereas Yeung and Morris, (2001) argue that food selection is more influenced by
psychological interpretations of perceived food properties than food characteristics
themselves. Most opt for nutritious nutrition. however, sometimes lifestyle causes them to
make the right choices. Mostly the Malaysia student is looking the heavy food like
carbohydrate and nutritious food.

2.3 Not Interested In Caffeine

The next problem is not every UBIS student interest the caffeine. Mostly, the students
like sweet drinks like chocolate drink, strawberries drink and many more. The reason of
student or people may not interesting with caffeine is does not effect it may be due to your
genetics, lack of sleep, or increased tolerance. Some of students drink the caffeine to
eliminate drowsiness because usually students will stay up late at night to do or finish their
assignment.

2.4 Business Competition Café

For the fourth problem we are looking is there are have mostly every businessman
who runs a food premise business or sales product premise experiencing challenges in his
business. Among them is competition between other cafes nearby in the location. There is the
same type of business run by several individuals, then there is competition. Challenges in this
business have resulted in students or customers having multiple choices. Furthermore, in
today's age of technological development, the products and services offered must be in line
with the external market as well as meet the needs and desires of various consumers.

6
2.5 The Ordering-Process System Too Slow

The lastly problem is the problems in the premise café is slow process to serve. This
problem involves a weak and slow system or process of travel of a business premise. This is
because of not having a systematic business.

There are also internal factors that involve employee, financial and other technical
problems in the business. This is taking the times to implement order management processes
and systems can seem like extra red tape when bootstrapping business processes with a small
team. In short, an order management system organizes and automates everything that needs to
happen to get customers what they ordered on time and in good condition.

3.0 SOLUTION

There's nothing quite like the excitement of owning your own business. But it also involves
plenty of challenges you need to understand and be prepared to handle. Entrepreneurs all over the
world are frequently concerned about business problems. Many entrepreneurs are overworked and
unable to balance work and family life, which causes them to become even more concerned. There 5
problem statement and issue at café Z, such as financial issues, dietary selection factors of student,
non-interested with caffeine, business competition café and the ordering process slow to serve.

7
3.1 Financial issue

In such a case, a company has two options: reduce spending or increase revenue. You
must eliminate all unnecessary spending. Decide what you can live without and then get rid of
it.

For example, if you are paying rent and do not need all of the space, you can
downsize to a smaller, more affordable office. This way, you can save money on rent as well
as other expenses such as electricity.

The second possibility is to boost revenue. This is clearly easier said than done
because the only way to increase revenue is to increase customers, which takes time.If you are
already in a financial bind and in desperate need of funds, your only option is to apply for a
business loan.

3.2 Dietary Selection Factors

Changing the food products available in university canteens, as well as organising

spaces where students who prepare meals from home can warm up and eat their food, are
possible strategies that could encourage students to adopt a healthy diet. Student discounts at
supermarkets, as well as nutrition and a healthy diet information, were identified as important
ways to support students.

3.3 Non-Interested In Caffeine

Caffeinated beverages are a part of daily life. Caffeinated beverages such as coffee,
tea, energy drinks, and soft drinks are easy to purchase and are frequently consumed by young
college students. Caffeine-related factors include alertness, withdrawal symptoms,
socialisation, sensory effects, and so on. Most college students, for example, consume
caffeine to feel more awake, enjoy the taste, socialise, increase their physical energy, improve
their mood, and relieve stress.

8
3.4 Business Competition Cafe

We will consider numerous changes to get our restaurant to the top, such as
redesigning the menu, lowering menu prices, polishing the cutlery, offering discounts, or
installing a proper POS, but in the end, whether we can beat the competition is largely
determined by the quality of food served at our restaurant. The food should be appealing,
delicious, and consistent in order for our customers to return to our cafe.

It may take some time to discover the secret recipe that distinguishes our restaurant
from the competition. However, we will keep the above-mentioned suggestions in mind and
begin implementing them to see which one works best for our restaurant operations and helps
us beat restaurant competition.

3.5 The Ordering-Process System Too Slow

To make sure that our customers get the best service in our café,we will invest in
technology for ongoing success.

The current labour shortage is comparable to a pandemic. However, we would like to

emphasise that there is still much we can do to improve the efficiency of our current staff.
Both front-of-house and back-of-house technologies are significant investments that can help
shield our concept from labour market uncertainties for years to come.

Presto provides a variety of technologies to help you thrive in a labor-constrained

environment. Order and pay-at-table technologies, server assistant tablets, voice ordering, and
computer vision are examples of these. If you'd like to see a demo of any of these solutions,
please contact us here.

9
4.0 BUSINESS PLANNING
4.1 Marketing Plan
4.1.1 Social Media Advertising

There are various social platforms that we will be participate in to promote

our business. The main social platforms that we will be launching soon will be
Facebook, Twitter, Tiktok and Instagram. The use of social platforms will be
benefiting us towards a great marketing plan for our business. It is important for is to
know how can we attract our customers through these platforms

In case of that, we will be posting he contents of our café’s promotions, event

activities, new product launches, our services or any information related to our
business. This will help our customers to get more awareness about our business. We
will also post some interesting pictures and short videos on our social platforms.

10
4.1.2 Discount programs

When it comes to deciding on the best discount techniques for our café, there
is a delicate path to tread between making appealing enough discounts that your
consumers will respond positively to and pricing yourself out of profits entirely.

Labour Day, Christmas, Hari Raya, and other national holidays are perfect
periods to begin a promotional discount scheme. This will enable us to compete more
effectively during these events, as well as provide you with a fresh subject for our
promotions.

We'll focus on high-margin items that will attract guests while deciding
which menu items to discount. However, in order to keep prices down, they will only
be available for a limited period. For example, we may consider offering a large
discount on premium entrees for a limited time.

Promotional discounts aren't just useful throughout holidays and other busy
seasons. This can also be a good technique for increasing our company's sales during
traditionally slow periods or days of the week. For example, if our cafe is having
trouble keeping a constant lunch clientele, we will offer cheap lunch specials.

Promotional discounts play a vital role in today's competitive restaurant

sector. They can be a beneficial approach to improve our business with the
appropriate plan and execution.

11
4.2 Production Plan

The operation plan is one of the most critical aspects to consider in a business
to guarantee that operations run smoothly, and that output continues. It is a method of
managing business inputs in order to convert them into outcomes such as products or
services. Our goal, like those of other businesses, is to guarantee that our products
and services are of the highest possible quality and capable of meeting our customers'
requirements and desires. As a result, a comprehensive and thorough operational
strategy is developed to ensure that our business functions smoothly and fulfils
business goals.

The following are the objectives of our operating plan :

• Ensure that the product is manufactured in accordance with the customer's

specifications, quality, and timeframe.

• To maximize client satisfaction and acquire their trust by meeting their

expectations about our capacity to offer high-quality products and timely
services.

• To ensure that the volume of output generated satisfies client needs by

achieving consistency and stability in our goods and services.

• To guarantee that the fee is not prohibitively expensive for the students.

Based on our Objective operational strategy, we believe that the business can
offer a discount or a set of combos to students without affecting our profit margins.

15
4.3 Financial Plan

The financial plan is frequently the most challenging element of the business plan to
develop, but it is also the section that potential investors and lenders spend the most time
evaluating. In order to proceed with the business, we need to collect funds for the costs and
expenses for the café when the café is open. Some major planning that we had brainstorm to
collect funds has been made.

One of the steps to proceed is that we decided to request a loan with MARA for the
major funding to open this cafe. On top of that, MARA also allocates RM1 billion annually to
help entrepreneurs in terms of financing loan funds. With the approval by MARA for the
loan, we can proceed the café in good situation.

The other steps is by collecting our own money for the funding of this café. The
initial investment of RM80000.00 is collected among ownerships of this business. These
initial investments are used for the raw materials and other necessities which are water bill
and electric bill for the monthly expenses.

6.0 CONCLUSION

According to the questionnaire survey that is distributed by our researchers to the respondents
in the selected area, there are various elaboration that can be concluded. Firstly, most of the students
that stay at the Zetapark are aged between 21 and 26. Most of them are slightly equal in terms of
gender, male are more than female based on our survey. Most of the students that lived there
frequently visit the cafes around the Zetapark. On top of that, some students faced the best and worst
experience altogether at the cafes that they visited. But the students may like the food more than their
services towards their customers. For the good news, the respondents are giving the positive
feedbacks on all of the questions that are related to our café.

In addition, we also hope that through our questionnaire survey, we are able to give the best
experience about the products and services available at our shop to our potential customers to amplify
the context of our research and support our small business. Moreover, we also hope that through our
report, we are able to gain the trust of our customers and can operate our business as soon as possible.

Last but not least, we also hope that through our business proposal, we are able to create an
awareness about the important of having an affordable food delivery to area Kuala Lumpur especially
m,cvbnaround Zetapark filled with Unikl students.
