Welcome Back!
Hey all, I hope that this summer has given us all a much-needed rest, so that we can redouble our efforts for the upcoming year. Last year, our brotherhood became more united than ever, and we all pushed ourselves to do more service, and to attend more fellowship and membership events. Our beloved VP Service Matt Lanza found out that both as a collective and individually, we improved the amount of community service we did dramatically, which is greatly highlighted by both his and Kaitlin Douglass efforts with over 70 hours each, as well as the many members with over 50 hours. As a brotherhood, we established many ways to improve involvement and had very active participation in the different committees. By having somewhat of a friendly, yet competitive feeling in APO, we all helped each other help the community. We can all be proud for the work we did last semester. eager to start working to make APO even better this semester. But the semester is in the past, and we have a very strong exec board, In Kaitlin, Gurbani and David Bautista we have great VPs. Kaitlin has already done an amazing job this summer getting service projects in line for us, and I know that she will bring fun and new Matt Cat has already done a phenomenal job as historian over the summer and Im sure hell continue doing so. There are clearly many ideas to talk about, and many other eager members of exec that will bring all of their excitement with them, but well get to that as the semester gets underway. As for me, as President, I will continue to try to improve the transparency between the executive board and the brotherhood, and will do my best to get everyone involved in one way or another. Lets pick up where we left off last semester; lets push each other to always do more. I challenge you all, as well as myself, to do even more service than last semester, and always try to help your fellow brother, and human being through Leadership, Friendship and Service. Cant wait to see you all, and to get the semester underway, Omar Khan

ideas to the table, such as a Kindergarten Reading Day, or more hands-on projects. Gurbani is currently looking into another laser tag event, skiing, high-ropes courses and as a collective well help her decide which to choose. And David is opening up a fellowship spreadsheet where we can brainstorm for different events. Im sure he has great things planned for us. We also cant help but feel excited about Jason Lees big/ little ideas such as Big/Little Assassins, Snowman building, and Water pong tournament. Dan and Nini have also been planning long and hard for the Alpha Omicrons, theyll need our enthusiasm to keep making APO a better fraternity.

Blast From the Past!

In 1947, only two years after chartering at Penn, the Delta Zeta chapter snapped these photographs. Above is a rush event, below is that years initiation ceremony. Both likely took place in Houston Hall, where our chapter held its meetings and had its own office at the time. The face of our Brotherhood has certainly changed, but at least we still use the same goats head at all of our Rush events! (Source: Penn Record, 1947)
