week right after Junior Retreat occurred. However, I would describe it as more “quiet” than
“uneventful” since things did happen. That makes the fact that I didn’t do anything on Monday a
little ironic, but as I stated in a previous journal entry, taking the Monday after a camp session
off is par for the course. We all end up needing the rest.
Things got off to a proper start on Tuesday, when we went back into the office. Speaking
of which, Camp Kudzu has a new intern! Her name is Nia, and she actually started during Junior
Retreat, but I completely forgot to put that in last week’s journal. She’s interning under Kat, so I
don’t know if we’ll be working on anything together. Nia’s really nice, however, and we got a
chance to talk a little bit while we both had some downtime at camp and during the K1D event
on Wednesday. We’re also going to be getting another intern this next week! Caroline’s going to
have a dietary intern who’ll be working under her for a few weeks, though I’m not sure about
many of the details—I only know that she was getting orientation stuff ready. It feels so weird
there will be three of us soon; I’m so used to being the only intern, and suddenly our numbers are
about to triple.
Like I said before, this was a relatively low-key week. I spent Tuesday and Wednesday
helping to unpack from Junior Retreat, set up for K1D events, and various other tasks. Anna and
I hashed out a rough schedule of my hours for the rest of the semester, which was really helpful
for making sure I end up getting the 480 I need to graduate. Thursday threw me a curveball,
however. The plan was for me to work virtually, and spend the day focusing on my project,
because I had a dentist appointment scheduled to get my teeth cleaned. Plus, my dog chewed up
my nightguard (something I have since learned is actually quite common for dogs to do), and I
really needed a replacement since I grind my teeth badly at night. My appointment was
scheduled for 11:30. I went back to the cleaning room at around noon, and things didn’t wrap up
until about two. Hours. Later. It was just a regular cleaning (I didn’t have any cavities!), but by
the time I got back to the house it was almost three in the afternoon. So if you’re wondering,
