This week was very different for me! I was asked to help out at another PT Solutions
clinic. I usually work in Dunwoody but on Friday afternoon Leslie called me to ask me a favor.
The patient coordinator at PT Solutions Sandy Springs was let go on Friday and the other PSC
only started 5 weeks ago. I happily said yes, I also happen to live much closer to the Sandy
Springs location. This week I went to Dunwoody each morning but on Monday, Wednesday, and
Thursday I went to Sandy Springs. It is a very different clinic, much larger and more therapists. I
was met with a warm welcome and I could tell the therapists were relieved to have me there at
the front desk. Destiny is amazing but very new, so she has all the confidence and critical
thinking just not all of the tools yet. She was very receptive to learning everything I had to offer.
I even got to show her my project, which is a training booklet, so I could get a new-hire’s
opinion.
At Dunwoody, we are still very busy day to day, but referrals have slowed a little bit. Our
visit number is through the roof but because of that, when new patients call, we don’t have much
room for them. It makes it hard to do my job well when I cannot get a new patient scheduled in
less than 5 days from their initial contact. As a company, the standard is to have an average “days
to appointment” be less than 5 days. This means that from the moment when we schedule them,
we should be seeing them within the week. this of course is not possible with all patients but
when you have people coming in next day, it all evens out in the average DTA.
I put a lot of pressure on myself to meet the goals and keep our numbers in check but it is
not always in my control. My clinic manager and Leslie reminded me this week during my 1:1.
Leslie also reminded me that “you cannot eat an elephant in one bite.” She is trying to tell me to
slow down and take it one thing at a time. She knows I will eventually get overwhelmed, burned
out, and not ask for help until it is too late. My relationship with Leslie has benefited me more
than she will ever know. She was such a bug supporter of mine and I will always reflect on
