Should abortion be legalized?

Abortion is one of the controversial topics that is often discussed in society. However,
there are several issues related to the current situation in Indonesia, which is related to the
debate about the permissibility of having an abortion. Having an abortion is a better option for
several reasons.
First, abortion helps reduce the risk of death from pregnancy at an early age. Many
people experience pregnancy at a very early age so that it can endanger the life of the mother
who is carrying the baby. the unpreparedness of the mother's body due to a uterus that is not
ready to have a baby increases the risk of death for the baby and even the mother of the baby.
Second, abortion supports the mental care of Sexual violence’s victims. So far, there has
been a lot of sexual violence that has resulted in the victim's pregnancy. many victims have been
traumatized by the sexual violence perpetrated against them. therefore, abortion helps the
victim to heal the trauma of remembering the incident by removing traces of the perpetrator of
the sexual violence.
The last reason, abortion can also reduce the risk of death from the disease suffered by
the mother. besides being beneficial for the mother, this also has an impact on the baby. the
mother is certainly not threatened with her life by carrying the baby because of the disease she
is suffering from. the baby also will not suffer in his life because of the disease that his mother
could have passed on to him when he was alive.
People who are against abortion may say abortion is against the law. This might seem like
a good point. after all, abortion is the act of killing an innocent baby. even babies should have
the right to survive and have a decent life in accordance with applicable law.
But to answer this argument we should also look at the rights of the mother of the baby.
does the mother also not deserve a chance to live well in the future? will having a baby the
mother doesn't want is good for the mother? of course not, therefore human rights should also
be turned to the mother's side as well.
In conclusion, abortion is something that should be legal. there are many reasons why
this should be legalized. considering the many benefits compared to the bad effects, Indonesia
should have given permission to legalize abortion
