Prepositions- word connectors, to show direction and
position
Conjunctions – connecting words ( may be found at the
beginning, middle, or end of a clause)

b. Subject-Verb Familiarization with the Basic Rules of S-V Agreement and its
30 minutes Agreement Application using Examples Summative Quiz

1. Singular subjects require Singular verbs ( no s-es)


2. Either-or/ Neither –nor follows the count of the noun
closest to the verb.
3. Indefinite Pronouns everyone, everybody, someone,
somebody take a singular verb.
4. The use of “together with” follows the count of the noun
before it.
5. Collective Nouns generally, but not always, take a singular
form.
6. If the sentence begins goes like “A number of”, it is
considered plural, so use a plural verb. If it is “The number”,
use a singular verb.
