SOCIAL WORK ACTIVITIES

1. Cleanup Drive Program


Any social work student is welcome to participate in the Cleanup Drive
along Delfin Drive in front of Mabalacat City Hall in Pampanga. The purpose of
this community service is to deep clean the surroundings of the city hall that will
be held this coming May 25, 2022. The program will start from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
The materials that will be used are provided by the city council including the
food assistance for the volunteers.

2. ‘Kumusta ka, kaibigan’ A mental health symposium


Since the cases of mental health issues arise as time passed, a mental
awareness program should be conducted to assess people who need help
regarding their condition. There are some cases of anxiety and depression that
led to suicide. Youths are the most prominent victim of this case, thus, this
symposium targets the youth along with the community in Barangay Mabiga,
Mabalacat City, Pampanga on the 31st of May, 2022 at 2 p.m. With the help of
social work students in the Psychology course, the program would not be only
about awareness but also a solution to mental health problems. It is a 2-hour
symposium, one hour allotted for discussion and another hour for an interactive
activity.

3. ‘Tara, Kain Tayo’ Feeding Program


The program may be too simple and common but it means a lot to those
people who suffer from hunger. All the necessities for this event are funded by
the local officials of the municipal. There are lots of food prepared for the
children in Brgy. Mabiga. It is scheduled at 9 am on June 15, 2022. The purpose of
this program is to provide healthy food for the children. Aside from chicken
porridge, children may choose other foods like sopas, champorado, and a meal
with chopsuey. Also, there are healthy drinks and desserts given to them.

4. ‘Kailangan mo? Kuha ka. May sobra ka? Bigay ka’ A community pantry
Due to the pandemic, many people lost their jobs and resources for their
living. Thus, volunteer groups came up with the idea of getting or giving. To
those families who need food, they can get the available food in the pantry. While
those who have extra food can donate to this program. Wherein, it will be
conducted once a week (Monday) runs for July and located in the barangay hall
of Brgy. Mabiga. The program aims to provide support for those people in need
in this time of the pandemic.

5. Medical Mission
As the year come to its halfway, the group of social work students planned
to conduct a medical mission in the community of Brgy. Mabiga with the help of
medical student volunteers and registered doctors in the community. This
program targets people who cannot afford to seek a doctor for their medical
checkups and medicines. Thus, the program will be held on July 15, 2022, beside
the barangay hall of Mabiga. All the resources are sponsored by the local
government.
