STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES FOR COLLEGE APPLICATIONS

1. Apply to colleges online.


a. Create a Common Application account if ANY of your schools accept the Common App. To do this go to
commonapp.org.
b. For colleges that DO NOT accept the Common App, apply through the universities’ websites.

For steps 2-5: log-on to Naviance-> go to the colleges tab across the top ->click the link for “colleges I’m applying to”

2. Match your Common App account on Naviance. For the FERPA waiver on the CA, you are strongly encouraged
to waive your rights. Make sure your email address is the same to link your account to Naviance!
3. Add all schools you are applying to. Click on “+add to this list.” Your counselor will ONLY send documents to the
schools on this list! Pay attention to deadlines and method of sending documents!
4. Request transcripts on Naviance. You must request your transcript for each school you are applying to. Your
documents won’t be sent until you do this!
5. Teacher Recommendations: Ask IN PERSON first, then electronically list the teachers who are writing your
recommendations on your Naviance account. Send them a THANK YOU NOTE email!

and go to “pages” on the left side of your home screen.
