Writing, P 20 Ex 2 (Polite letter)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am Óscar Torres, an international student here in New Zealand. I was
offered a workplace which it was accorded to start on 5th Decembre.
Regrettably, this agreement can not be fulfilled because of an unfortunate
incident.
Last 3rd Decembre, my mother, who is in Spain, had a sudden incapacity
to walk due to a back injury. Therefore, she is in bed with a lot of pain, so I
must go there to make sure she gets better sooner or, at least, I can help
her with the everyday routine.
The fact that I decided to aware you about it does not mean I refuse that
working place. It is with regret that I must request a delay of 1 week. I
know that these dates are truly important to this business, so that I will
just stay there a little time just to make sure there is no needs to supply,
and my family can take care of her without me. Furthermore, she is
extremely concerned not to be a burden to me.
In the circumstances, I would be only too happy to spend some time in the
company before I live, and, also, I could spend some unpaid time with the
present engineer or, as well, some extra-hours to have all my work in
time.
I hope you will understand my predicament and will accept my suggested
solution. Should you wish to discuss the matter further, please do not
