pictures to form a word that shows about the characters; Reading the
Summary of Short story then identifying the character and the sequence of
the story.

B. Performance Standard The learner transfers learning enhancing their reading capablities to identify
the sequence of the story through graphic organizer.

C. Learning characterize the character of the story.

V. PROCEDURES

A. Motivation: The teacher will show a pictures; the teacher will instruct the student to guess
the possible answer of the pictures by linking/connecting the picture.

B. Presentation of the lesson: ( After it, the teacher will discuss the topic to the class ). The students will be
divided into four groups. Each group is assigned to read a specific paragraph.
After reading the whole story, the teacher will discuss or explain the ideas
that the story has.

Summary of the Short Story

My Father Goes to Court

This story happens in the town of Santo Tomas wherein


it shows the life of the poor and the rich family. The
poor family are always happy. the kids are playing
outside and gaining Vitamin D from the sun while their
neighbor are just enjoying the ambiance of their house.
Their comes the time that when the maids of the rich
family are coughing and becoming weak and they
blame this to the poor family because they are stealing
the spirit of the food. They bring it to the court and the
father in the poor family said that they will pay for the
damage, he collected coins and put it in his hat, then he
start shaking his hat and make some noise out of the
coins. The sound of it was the spirit of money being
replacement on the spirit of the food which is said to be
absorbed by the poor family. They got the side of the
judge and they all start laughing.

C. Discussion: To make the lesson more clear to the students, they will be asked to answer
the following questions: (Recitation)

1. Who are the characters of the story?

2. How the two families differ from each other?

3. What can you say about the poor family and the rich family?

4. Why the rich man did filed a complaint against the poor family?

5. How did the poor family react on the the complaint of the rich man?

Answers:

A1. The characters of the story are the young narrator, Father, wife and his
children, rich man with his children's, servants,policeman, judge and lawyer.

A2. They differ in their living status. The first family is poor and the second
family is rich.

A3. The poor family is always happy, cheerful and healthy while the rich family
is weak , insensible and unhealthy.

A4. Because according to the rich man , the poor family is stealing the spirit of
their wealth and food.

A5. They are confident because they know in themselves that they do not
steal anything.

D. Activity: With the same groupings earlier, the students will have a group activity. Each
group has an assigned task to accomplish within five minutes. And choose a
representative from the group to present at the front, each presenter every
group will given 5 minutes to finish their report.
