INTRODUCTION

It’s been a great privilege to be part of this training though it is just a

short amount of time I’m still able to grow and improve myself. Along the process
of my growth, there were also challenges that took me some time to learn and
master it. There are also many interesting things that broaden my knowledge and
some new skills were acquired. And this is big thanks to my trainer who is patient
with me and never gives up on me. To my co-workers who always show their
support and encourage me to do my best. Lastly, my leader genuinely cares for
me asking if I’m doing fine from time to time. With this experience, I enjoyed my
training very much and it was a big help for me in the pursuit of my goals in life.

II. COMPREHENSIVE DESCRIPTION OF TASK/ASSIGNMENT

I was assigned to EA2 PRISMATICS from the start and to the end of the
training. During my training days, reading blueprints and other engineering
drawings is something not hard for me. The use of measuring tools like calipers
and micrometers is also another thing I’m capable of. In addition, I’m very
familiar also with reading CNC programs.

Moreover, with the help of everyone I can basically operate a Milling

Machine (OKUMA mill MA-500HB, LBC #11) wherein I can do the set-up of some
workpieces (OB Aileron-Prim--CB08058-002, Elevator—CB01004-002, IB Aileron
Prim-CB15667-002, Manifold-P665A0045-00), run the program, troubleshoot
some alarms, and navigate the system. I also tried using the Microhite device for
tolerance reference. I did also use Optical Comparator to measure diameter and
depths. I did also observe the use of a Parsetter in which the height of tools is
being measured. Another one is the use of a MAFAC JAVA machine to clean the
finished workpiece and then the use of Airblow device to blow away chips that
were hiding in the workpiece.

I did some reports, and documentation, such as the Run Chart filling it
with dates, serial numbers, work order, inspection level, and operator initials,
and affixed my signatures as well on the workpiece I’ve done. The same goes for
the Work order and Inspection Sheet, which my trainer let me do the paperwork
done. I’ve also queued Zeiss Inspection plan. From time to time I did manual
inspection using the BMC-Inspection Program as my reference shown on the
computer or in a printed hard copy.

III. Personal Insights

Firstly, I observed that wearing of PPEs is strictly observed and is not to be

neglected at all times especially when you are inside the workstation wearing
your safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and smocks. You have to always practice
also the habit of CAYGO (Clean As You Go) to maintain cleanliness and prevent
any future damages. And as for me, as an OJT to be effective you need to be
responsible and make an effort to understand what’s going on by knowing the
step-by-step procedures, do’s, and don’t rule, always ask your trainer for further
instructions, and if unsure always approached your trainer for guidance.
Moreover, what impacted me most is first the Zero Mind Defect mindset that’s
why every workpiece, and everything that we are doing must be perfect and
there’s no room for error. And secondly, it’s culture because a lot of them really
are in line with my principles.
With my training, I’m able also to develop my technical skill in CNC milling
operations. Where I can troubleshoot a few problems during operation, check
tools, do a tool change, re-program, manipulate data, and make some changes
when the machine stops running. It developed also my blueprint reading which
helps you to pinpoint every part of the workpiece. I learned the correct and best
way to pre-deburr a workpiece because there are critical areas in which you need
to be very careful and delicate. I now know also how to inspect workpieces
manually which I’ve done it already many times.

IV. Impressions of Moog Controls Corp. Baguio

Moog exceeded my expectations and I’m glad that I’ve been part of this
organization even though for a short period of time. Its culture makes me
comfortable in my training. I’m able to be open and honest which did not put a
lot of pressure on me while I’m still learning new things.

When it comes to their product, I’m amazed at how complicated they are
designed and the way they are treated. It’s because there are steps you need to
follow and procedures not to skip. That’s why everything needs to be checked
properly before going to the next work area.

Concerning machines and equipment that we are using some needs

practice and knowledge to be able to operate/use it. While others just need
familiarization to completely utilize them. Since almost everything on there is
new to me seeing them for the first time. And I find them impressive and how
advance their technology is.
The facility is great and you will not have a hard time working. Since
everything is provided as just what you needed. The working environment is safe
and you will not be worrying very much about your safety. It is a clean place also
which brings peace of mind helping you to work freely.

To everyone especially in our area, they are welcoming, very supportive,

they are concerned with me, you can approach them freely and they are fun to
be with. That’s why I’m very grateful to have met people like them.

My trainer Kuya Aries has been so good and patient with me that he was
one of the keys to my growth as an OJT. With his help, I was able to develop and
increased my knowledge about being a machinist. He has given me pieces of
advice and taught me some techniques about machining. His good attitude and
wisdom are something that I want to follow.

Therefore, with everything which I have learned from this organization with my new set
and improved skills, added knowledge, and gained experience I still want to continue my career
as a machinist. And if given the opportunity to work here would be a yes to me.
