1. Plumbing A system that conveys fluids for a wide range of applications. Plumbing uses pipes,
valves, plumbing fixtures, tanks, and other apparatuses to convey fluids. Heating and cooling
(HVAC), waste removal, and potable water delivery are among the most common uses for
plumbing, but it is not limited to these applications.
2. Water Supply It is the provision of water by public utilities, commercial organizations,
community endeavors or by individuals, usually via a system of pumps.
3. Water Treatment A process that improves the quality of water to make it appropriate for a
specific end-use. The end use may be drinking, industrial.
4.Water Disposal This includes the activities and actions required to manage waste from its
inception to its final disposal.
5. Sanitary Sewers A sanitary sewer or foul sewer is an underground pipe or tunnel system for
transporting sewage from houses and commercial buildings.
6. Drainage This is the natural or artificial removal of a surface's water and sub-surface water
from an area with excess of water.
7. Ventilation The exchange of air between the lungs and the atmosphere so that oxygen can be
exchanged for carbon dioxide in the alveoli.
8. Piping Within industry, piping is a system of pipes used to convey fluids (liquids and gases)
from one location to another. The engineering discipline of piping design studies the efficient
transport of fluid.
9. Sewer An underground conduit for carrying off drainage water and waste matter.
10. Septic Tank This is an underground chamber made of concrete, fiberglass, or plastic through
which domestic wastewater (sewage) flows for basic treatment.

surface waters after being treated at a facility.

bodies or accumulations of the surface of wastes in a septic tank which is buoyed up by
entrained water, surface, and underground.
9. Sludge - Sludge is a colloquial term for semi-solid waste material, which has been filtered out
of liquids in sewage. Raw sewage enters a setting tank, where it is allowed to settle and settle
