Learning Theories : New Dimensions

The Introduction is talking about how the world is changing very quickly and
becoming more complicated. Because of this, our education system (the way we teach
and learn) needs to change too.

In recent years, there has been a big increase in the use of technology in education.
This is called "ICT" which stands for "information and communication technologies". Using
technology can help students learn new things in new ways. For example, they can learn
using videos, educational websites, emails, and blogs.

1- ICT (information and communication technologies) has created a new group of

learners called the "I generation", or "internet generation". These learners have grown up
with the internet and social media, and have never experienced a time without them.
They are very comfortable using technology and are very skilled at it.

The students who have grown up using technology, such as graphics, video games,
and the internet, are often referred to as "digital students". Using technology a lot can
actually change the way their brains work, making them more accustomed to using
technology in their everyday lives.

2- In today's world, students are expected to have certain important skills, including
working well with others (collaboration), being creative, understanding technology (digital
literacy), thinking carefully about things (critical thinking), being good at communicating,
being adaptable (flexibility), and being a good leader.

To help students develop these skills, it is important to change the way we teach
them. This means using teaching methods that focus on bringing all of these different
skills together (convergent teaching methods). It is very important to update the way we
teach so that we can help students learn these skills and be successful in today's world.
 3- The article by Ertmer and Newby (2013) is trying to find connections between older
ideas about how people learn and the new ways that technology is being used in
education today. In other words, the article is trying to see how the old ideas about
learning can be applied to the new ways that technology is being used to help people
learn.
