Setup for Ring Classic Doorbell & Ring Floodlight Camera with Alexa

1 Make sure your home internet connection is up

and running with a strong 2.4 gHz Wi-Fi network
throughout the home.

2 Make sure your mobile device has Bluetooth and

Wi-Fi enabled, and that the mobile device battery
has sufficient charge.

3 Make sure your mobile device is connected to your

home Wi-Fi network with a strong signal at the
Front and Back Door.

4 Download the ‘Ring’ app from the iTunes App Store

or Google Play Store (iOS/Android).

5 Open the app, and select ‘CREATE ACCOUNT’

6 Enter your First and Last Name. Press ‘CONTINUE’

7 Select Country (default is Canada). Press

‘CONTINUE’

8 Enter your email address. Create a strong and

unique password.

9 The Ring App will ask if you have an existing

Amazon Account and if you would like to link
accounts. Select ‘LINK ACCOUNTS’

10 Enter your password. Press ‘CONTINUE’

11 Amazon screen will appear, enter the email

address associated with your Amazon Account.

12 Sign in.

13 Select ‘SET UP A RING DEVICE’

14 Select ‘DOORBELLS’

15 Ring will ask if they can access camera, select
‘OK’
16 On your Ring Doorbell box, there is a MAC
address on it. If you don’t have the box, select
‘SET UP WITHOUT SCANNING’
17 Scan the QR code or MAC address using your
mobile device and select ‘ALLOW WHILE USING
APP’
18 Select ‘ADD A NEW LOCATION’. Enter your home
address. Press ‘CONTINUE’. Press ‘CONFIRM’
19 Select ‘FRONT DOOR’.
20 If it asks if the Doorbell needs to be installed,
select ‘I’VE ALREADY INSTALLED IT’.
21 If it asks for the type of chime, select
‘MECHANICAL’ for chime type.
22 If it asks if you have a white moving ring on the
doorbell itself, look at the doorbell to confirm.
23 If you don’t have a white moving ring on the
doorbell, press and release the orange button on
the back of your Ring Doorbell. Select ‘CONTINUE’
24 It will pop up a message asking you to connect
your mobile device to the Ring Wi-Fi Network
from the Doorbell. Select ‘JOIN’.
25 Once successfully connected, it will prompt you
to select your home Wi-Fi network from the list
of available Wi-Fi networks that it detects. Select
your home’s 2.4 gHz Wi-Fi network.
26 Enter your password. Press ‘CONTINUE’.

27 It will connect to your network to complete
the installation.
28 It will prompt you about Snapshot Capture.
Select ‘GOT IT’.
29 It should say ‘Congratulations, setup is
complete.’ Select ‘CONTINUE’.
30 It will then update the firmware of the
doorbell. Wait until it is completed.
31 It will ask if you want help to install your
doorbell. Select ‘SKIP FOR NOW’.
32 It will prompt you with a Motion Wizard
to setup your motion detection. Select
‘OPTIMIZE’.
33 It will ask if you have steps or a hill leading up
to your door. Select ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ based upon
your home.
34 It will ask if your door faces a street. Select
‘YES’ or ‘NO’ based upon your home.
35 It will ask how far from your door should
motion be monitored. Select your desired
setting. Adjust your motion settings as
required.
36 It will ask how often your Front Door should
capture motion and send you notifications.
Select your desired setting and select ‘NEXT’.
37 It will prompt you to invite users you wish to
share the account with if you desire. Enter the
users email address if required.

38 It will prompt you to add linked devices. Select
‘Add Linked Devices’ or ‘SKIP’
39 Next, we will setup the Ring Floodlight Cam.
Select ‘SET UP A DEVICE’.
40 Select ‘SECURITY CAMS’
41 Select ‘FLOODLIGHT CAM’
42 On your Ring Floodlight Box there is a MAC
address on it. If you don’t have the box, select
‘SET UP WITHOUT SCANNING’
43 Scan the QR code or MAC address using your
mobile device.
44 Determine the location for the Floodlight and
name it.
45 It will asks if the Floodlight Cam has been
installed. Select ‘IT’S BEEN INSTALLED’.
46 Wait for the light at the bottom of the floodlight
to start flashing, then press ‘CONTINUE’.
47 Connect to the Floodlight Wi-Fi network when
prompted. Go to the Wi-Fi settings on your mobile
device and select the Ring Setup network from
list of networks.
48 Then select your Home Wi-Fi network for the
Floodlight Cam to connect to. Enter password if
required.
49 It will prompt you again about the Snapshot
Capture. Select ‘GOT IT’.
50 Adjust camera and lights orientation and angle
as required. Select ‘CONTINUE’.

51 It will prompt you about shared users,
select ‘SKIP THIS STEP’ or invite friends and
family with their email address and press
‘CONTINUE’.
52 It will prompt you about Cloud Recording.
Proceed if you wish or select ‘CLOSE’.
53 To connect your Ring Doorbell and Floodlight
to Alexa, you must download the Alexa
mobile app from the iTunes App Store or
Google Play Store if you don’t have it already.
54 Once the app has downloaded, launch the
app and create a new account (if you don’t
have an Amazon account already).
55 Once you have the account created, you
must enable the Ring Skill. Go to the Menu,
and then ‘Skills & Games’.
56 Click the magnifying glass to search, and
type in ‘Ring’. Select the ‘Ring skill, and
‘Enable’. It will prompt you to enter your Ring
account information that you have already
created, select ‘Authorize’.
57 Upon successfully linking the Ring skill with
Alexa, Select ‘Done’.
58 Select ‘Discover your devices’. Select the
device and confirm your naming for voice
control.
59 Create Groups using the ‘+’ symbol and
create rooms or areas for your Ring Cameras
and Floodlights.
