1. Ramon saved a total of ₱5,625.00 last year. This represents 18% of his annual salary.
How much did he earn last year?
2. A firm’s total sales is ₱156,000.00 this year. If the cost of sales is 55%, compute for
the amount of gross profit.
3. If the firm in (12) earned a net profit of how many percent of total sales is the net
profit? How many percent and how much is the operating expenses?
4. Compute for the operating expenses of the firm in (12) and (13). How many percent of
the total sales are the operating expenses?
5. If the firm in (12) sold ₱121,875.00 last year, what is the rate of increase in sales?
6. Michelle owns a specialty shop with three departments for jewelry, handbags, and
shoes. If the sales for the three departments are ₱56,250.00, ₱11,250.00, and
₱33,750.00 respectively, what is the ratio of the sales among the three departments?
7. If Flora wanted to invest an additional amount ₱27,000.00 in (2) above and decided to
purchase inventories for the three departments in the same proportion as the sales
ratio, how much inventories will be purchased for each department?
8. EJ has a new recipe calling for a mixture of chocolate powder and milk at a ratio of 2

cups chocolate powder for every 5 cups of milk. If EJ used 7 cups of chocolate, how

9. An area consisting of 140 acres is to be developed and it was decided that the ratio of
space provided for the buildings, roads, and parking space should be at a ratio of
4:2:1. How much should be allotted for each use?
10. A general survey showed that there are 150 rank-and-file workers for every 4 first-
level supervisors. If there are 4,500 rank-and-file workers, how many first-level
supervisors are there?
11. Eugene and Erlita are partners with capital balances of ₱32,000.00 and ₱48,000.00,
respectively. Their partnership earned a net profit of ₱8,600.00. Find the share of
each using their capital ratio.
12. In a certain year, the partnership of Eugene and Erlita in (1) above incurred a net
loss of which Eugene’s share was ₱1,528.00. Compute for:
a. Total net loss
b. Erlita’s share in the net loss
13. Masipag and Masikap are partners. They share profits and losses by 5:7. Their
capital balances are in the same proportionate relationship as their P/L ratio. If
Masipag’s capital is ₱42,000.00, find
a. Total capital of the partnership
b. Capital of Masikap
14. Find the amount of withholding tax on bank interest if a bank has paid a total interest
of ₱62,230.50 and the tax rate is 3.5%.
