ALAPCO Chemicals Limited

Los Helios is a chief industrial location of Valdina. Because of this, it has also become

the world’s most air polluted area. Undiscriminating logging for clearing land for communities

and industries has almost destroyed forests in Valdina. The country’s beaches are declared unfit

for swimming because of industrial and municipal waste pollution. Environmental activists

blame the government for not having legislation on the environment, not updating factory codes

and a separate agency for environmental control. They also blamed industries for not adhering to

factory codes. Although, the government introduced new legislation in 2010.

The government of Valdina, trapped in financial difficulties, could not establish a system

of regular investigation (Ajami, 2006). In addition, the government highly depends on industries

and MNCs for revenue. Hence, much of the legislation remains on paper. Alapco, the only

chemical producer in Valdina, was one of those industries responsible for polluting the

environment. The company shares a closed relationship with the government because of its

monopoly in the chemical industry. The government did not take action against Alapco to

enforce the new legislation.

Wilbur Stevens

If I were Wilbur Stevens, I would have pushed the environmental matter for several

reasons. The worsening conditions of environmental issues at Valdina have already attracted

international environmental bodies. Environment degradation and its effects are clear and visible,

and if not stopped now, they may consequence in severe problems. A small and easy problem in

the growing economies and after-effects of human activities can become a huge one anytime.

The government, political leaders, or political parties will have no problem giving statements
denying the situation and saying they do not know. The government may target Stevens for not

adhering to legislation to save their political image. The same goes for companies. The company

falling into public relations nightmare will blame Stevens for failing to comply with the

government regulations.

Director of Globe-Watch

It is the responsibility of the director of Globe-Watch to draw as much attention to

environmental issues as possible. The director should contact the headquarter group in

Washington and raise the matter before the environmental activist group. He should spread the

word by giving interviews on news channels, attending meetings, and attending world

environment forums. He should explain the current situation of Valdina to them and the possible

consequences of the deteriorating environment. He should put pressure on Alapco and make the

company feel the need to take some measures. Global Watch can take photos or videos of

closed-off areas near the Alapco factory. The director should interview the people living in the

surroundings. They should also interview those close to the factory and show how the waste has

impacted their living style.

Minister for Industries of the Government of Valdina

The mister of industries should form strict legislation, ensure its enforcement and take

action against those violating. The new laws should make industries ethically responsible to

people directly affected by their actions (Brown, 2021). The ministry should think about the

future of its country rather than the short-term revenues. Escalation of environmental issues

could damage Valdina’s image. He can easily find an alternative for the existing companies by

giving access to foreign investors and pressurize Alapco.
