SESSION GUIDE FOR LAC SESSION

Day /Time : May, 2022


Time Duration : 2 hours
Session Title : TEACHING STRATEGIES FOR LEARNERS WITH
SPECIAL NEEDS ( Learners with Difficulties)

I. Objectives:

At the end of the session, the participants shall be able to:

 Cite the different categories of difficulties and manifestations.


 Identify the different strategies for each difficulties to support learners.
 Create learning materials for student with learning difficulties.

II. Resources Needed:

 Presentation/LCD/Laptop
 Coloring materials, crayons, Manila paper, permanent marker, simulation
mask, handkerchief, colour markers, masking tape, coupon
 Reading material written in Korean language

III. Priming Activity: (5 mins)

Hello, good afternoon. I am _____ and I will be your speaker for today. To start
we will have a priming activity. First, form three groups and each group will
perform different activity.

For group 1: Remember Me!


For 3 seconds, look at the pictures on the slide. You have 1 minute
to list down all that you can remember.

For group II: Color me Blind


Using the simulation mask, color the animals with your favorite color.
For group III: Read me Please!
Read the words without consulting Mr. Google.
Translate what you understand in English.

IV. Analysis: (10 minutes)

Note: Post all the answers on the board.

Say:

• What did you learn from the activity?


• What is the importance of the activity in relation to the learners with
difficulties?
• What are your realizations as a teacher handling learner with difficulties?

Each group will write their answers in Manila paper to be posted on


the board. The facilitator will process the answers.

V. Abstraction: (45 mins)


Say: As educators, we must acknowledge that all students learn differently
and our responsibility is to implement different strategies to meet the need of
the students. When a teacher is planning an effective lesson, he or she must
take in consideration the different needs of the students and understand that
students have different learning styles such as visual learners, tactile learners,
and auditory learners. For this reason, it is very important for all educators to
implement different teaching strategies that meet the needs of students with
learning difficulties.

I. Present and demonstrate the different teaching strategy for learners with
difficulties.
II. Ask the participants if they have questions or clarifications.

VI. Application: (30 mins)

Create sample learning materials for student with learning


diifculties/disabilities, giftedness and talents.
