REFLECTIVE JOURNAL

1. I was asked by my cousin to look after my nephew since she and her husband was planning to have a
vacation out of town. I was left alone in the house to take care of her child, my nephew who was then
three years old. Since I have upcoming exam the day after, I was focus on doing my study routine. I lost
track of time and forgot that I have a baby to tend to. Soon enough, my nephew started crying.

2. I thought that time he is looking for his mother or that he wants to play. As his aunt, I need to console
him or else he would have an asthma attack for too much crying. My role is to ask him ‘what’s wrong’
and if there is anything a can do for him so that he would stop crying. By then I remember that I was not
able to fed him on time and that he was already hungry. So, I gave him his milk bottle and fed him. Soon
after I brought him to his bedroom and make him sleep.

3. My nephew was crying because he was hungry and he did not get enough attention from me since I
was too focus on my school works. Also, me being ignorant for a time being, since I forgot that I have
baby to attend to, affects the situation.

4. I have spend an ample of time with my nephew and I got a rest from my stressful school works. We
enjoyed playing together and share laughter together.

5. In that situation I learned to not be oblivious in my surroundings. As a future nurse I need to be

sensitive when it comes to attending my client.

6. I learned to tend my nephew and look out for him the next time I was tasked to do so. Ill make sure to
have my attention on him and to provide his needs in time. As a future nurse attending my clint in time
of their needs is a must.
