1. PURPOSE:

The propose of this work method statement is to outline the general requirement define
the methodology for mechanical and manual excavation works.

2. RESPONSIBILITES

SITE MANAGER

Site Manager is responsible for the execution of the site all activities as to concrete
pouring, which includes compliance with drawing, procedures and specification.

HSE MANAGER

HSE Manager is responsible for safety health and environment at site.


Reporting to the HSE Manager will implement systems and procedures, and check
compliance with HSE Procedures.

CONSRUCTION MANAGER

He has the overall responsibilities for work management in accordance with the
contract requirements of work and safety with support of HSE Manager as to all area
and Quality requirement.
He shall control the execution of the work in compliance with this method of statement
plan, JSA and HSE project requirements, he coordinates with contractor and asset
holders.

SAFETY OFFICER

He is assigned to an area under Site HSE Manager and is responsibility for the
implementation of all safety measures, procedures which is required for the proper

execution of the work defined under in this Method statement (HSE Plan & JAS). He
coordinates with civil supervisor for mitigation of all hazard related to the area.

CIVIL SUPERVISOR.

He has the responsibility for the proper excavation in accordance with this MS and
JAS (JOB OF ANALYSYS).
• He arranges the manpower. Equipment and materials needed at the site area.
• He is in charge of preparation and submission of the permit to work.
• He will report to the area manager
• He will supervise the work on the site.

4. WORK METHOLOGY

PERMIT

a. Survey of site area

• PTW for excavation will be submitted by CPECC . reviewed and

approval by SONATRACH.

• ALL risks and Existing facility should be indentified during preparation of

permit.

• All survey coordinates and elevation are to be referred to the existent

coordinates and elevation received from contractor.

• Civil Surveyor will mark the location to be excavated with powder

and provide elevation of the existing top level to the civil supervisor.

EXCAVATION

MECHANICAL EXCAVATION

• Mechanical excavation will be performed for location where no existing

facilities have been identified

• Hard Barricade have be placed around the marked area to be excavated leaving

only access for equipment.

• Excavator will be located next to equipment foundation

• Flagman will be position with excavator all the time .

• Dump truck will be located behind the excavation.

• Excavated soil will be dumped directly inside in dump truck.

• In case of non-availability of dump track .soil will be temporary stoked in the site .

• Final cleaning and final survey will be performed before inspection.

• Stair and hard barricade will be provide immediately upon completed excavation

MANUAL EXCAVATION

• When existing facilities underground. Identified or supposed.

• Manual excavation will be in preformed with 100% supervision.

• Shovel and digger will be the used by the excavation .digger has to be used

with caution to avoid hitting existing facilities.

COMBINED MANUAL AND MECHANICAL EXCAVTION

methodology has to be used .

• Mechanical excavation will start after having seen the warning

tape/mesh and will be stopped 1 m above the facilities.

• Manual Excavation will then start and continue up to completed.
