Theme 1

1. preparation
In the morning, some of my close friends
come and help with the preparation.

2. decorative article
We went to the market and bought some
necessary decorative articles.

3. traditional cuisine
Mum prepared a variety of traditional
cuisines to serve the guests.

4. arrive
Soon, the guests started to arrive and I
welcomed them with open arm.

5. birthday boy
Everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to the
birthday boy before he make his birthday
wishes.

6. surprise (verb)
I was so surprised to see my Dad as he said
that he couldn't make it for my birthday party.
7. bash (party)
He had a big bash for his 18th birthday.

8. appetizer
We prepared chicken wings, meatballs and
cupcakes as appetizers.

9. costume
The children were wearing their own
costumes which suit the theme.

10. firework
The magnificent firework display brought
the party to its climax.

11. greet / wish

During the Chinese New Year, we greet one
another with lucky sayings and phrases to
wish each other health, wealth, and good
fortune.

12. tradition
This year, we broke with tradition and had
goose for Thanksgiving instead of turkey.
