  Section 15: Examination
In order to practice MT by profession, a graduate of
BSMT/BSMLS must be able to pass the examination given the
PRC annually during the month of August or September
 But this has been reviewed by the PRC
Modernization Act of 2000 where the
examination is given twice a year every March
and September
 The testing areas are in Manila, Cebu, Davao,
Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, Tacloban,
Tuguegarao and Zamboanga. Written notices
pertaining the examination site shall be released
30 days prior the examination dates
 Section 16: Qualification of Examination
In order to receive a license to practice the profession, an
individual must be able to pass the Medical Technology
Licensure Examination (MTLE).
An individual is only allowed to take the examination three
times but if still unable to pass, it is required to take a 12-
month refresher course or a 12-month postgraduate training
Requirements for licensing applicant:
 Good health and good moral character
 A graduate of BSMT/BSMLS or BS Public Health
 Copy of the certificate of live birth from PSA
 Transcript of records with scanned picture and
remarks stating "For board examination purposes"
 Section 17: Scope of Examination
The board will prepare the schedule of subjects for
examination to be reviewed by PRC for publication 30 days
before the date of examination. Each subjects have their own
weighted average needed in order to pass each of them
 20% - CC, MICRO, BB, HEMA, IS
 10% - CM, HISTO, MTL, CYTO, MOLBIO
 Section 18: Report of Rating
 This section is no longer in effect as it states where
Board shall release the result within 120 days after
the date of completion of examination
 This has been revised by the PRC Modernization Act
of 2000 indicating to release the results within 10
days from the last day of examination

In order to pass the licensure examination, a candidate must
obtain a general average of at least 75% in the written test
with no rating below 50% in any of the major subjects and
also providing that the student has not failed in at least 60%
of the subjects based on the relative weights.

MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN: 70% and above

court of competent jurisdiction of any guilty

the reason for its action, which statement
shall be incorporated in the record of the
Board
