Passive Voice

Definition
The passive voice is used to show interest in the
person or object that experiences an action rather
than the person or object that performs the action.
In other words, the most important thing or person
becomes the subject of the sentence
Forming Passive Voice

The passive voice in English is composed of two elements :


The appropriate form of the verb 'to be' + past participle.
Simple Present Tense

Object + am/is/are + V3 + by + Object/Pronoun


Example:
The house is cleaned every day (by Ira).
Present Continuous Tense

Object + am/is/are + being + V3 + by + Object/Pronoun


Example:
The house is being cleaned (by Ira).
Present Perfect Tense

Object + have/has + been+ V3 + by + Object/Pronoun


Example:
The house has been cleaned cleaned (by Ira).
Simple Past Tense

Object + was/were + V3 + by + Object/Pronoun


Example:
The house was cleaned cleaned (by Ira).
Past Contiuous Tense

Object + was/were + being + V3 + by + Object/Pronoun


Example:
The house was being cleaned (by Ira).
Past Perfect Tense

Object + had + been + V3 + by + Object/Pronoun


Example:
The house had been cleaned (by Ira).

Object + will/shall + be + V3 + by + Object/Pronoun


Example:
The house will be cleaned (by Ira).
Future ContinuousTense

Object + will/shall + be + being + V3 + by + Object/Pronoun


Example:
The house will be being cleaned (by Ira).
