Background of the study

Cite the existing problem.

One of the greatest enemies of agriculture are fungi. According to the journal Nature (2012),
stopping the spread of fungi infections in the five most important crops in the world could feed
more than 600 million people annually. They are the leading cause of crop loss. Fungicides are
pesticides that are that are specifically used to eradicate or stop the development of fungi, spores
and fungal diseases.

Emphasize the social relevance

Fungi can reduce crop production and result in financial loss. A few fungus are also in charge of food
rotting, which is expensive for the food industry and wasteful of food. Fungi can cause a wide range
of diseases in people, such as tinea pedis, ringworm, and thrush. Particularly in people with
weakened immune systems, specific fungus can potentially result in more serious illnesses.
Furthermore, certain fungi have been known to cause allergic reactions that lead to respiratory
symptoms like hay fever, asthma, and exaggerated pneumonitis. The structural integrity of buildings
and other structures can also be compromised by fungi, which can then affect people and other
living things. In response to these problems, people employ inorganic fungicides to kill fungi,
although doing so harms the environment's wildlife and plant life.

It could also irritate your skin and eyes. When breathed in as spray or dust, these insecticides can
irritate the throat, make you sneeze, and make you cough. We will be able to use butterfly peas as a
fungicide that gets rid of any fungal that causes disease or pests without harming the crops or the
people who eat them thanks to the researchers' findings.
